Itsto put them together and it is like getting a custom at a better price and the choices sometimes seem endless to what you can get.

I heard or read somewhere that you can request an original fender decal if you buy one of those warmoth necks? is that true??? :)

I bought a Warmoth neck when my Squire's neck broke. When I bought mine, I couldn't even get a Squire logo. I do not think you can get them to provide one.

There are a couple of places on the Web where you can obtain decals. However, be careful with that, as Fender, (and any other major guitar manufacturer for that matter), probably vigorously defends its trademarks with a battery of lawyers.

This logo business puzzles me. Is there something about the 'art' which makes having it on the headstock of an 'alternate' maker attractive?

If one wants the logo, buy the brand and do it justice. That's what a 'trademark' is all about, and why they are ferociously protected.

Other than that, put a Warmoth or Allparts neck on your guitar and have some talented artist create a 'one-off' headstock design you can call your own.

I think you missed my point. I bought a Squire...when the neck broke I wanted a replacement. Squire had long since stopped making that particular neck (it is not the Fender Strat neck they have now, it was more modern looking). I bought a neck made to the exact measurements and headstock as the orginal, with some up grades on wood quality and craftsmanship. To me at the time it was a Squire neck. Not to mention that I still had the old neck with the break. It wasn't like I wanted a Fender logo, just for it to say Squire. To be honest, it looked a lot better without the logo on it after all was said and done. I had so many people ask me what kind of guitar it was, and they were amazed to find out it was nothing more than a Squire HM III with a damn good neck put on it. I was glad that I couldn't find a Squire logo.

I just had a Warmoth LP built for me last Sept. It is quite the player. I used a chambered mahogony body with quilted maple top in a red burst finish. The neck is a Warmoth Pro double truss rod, quatersawn maple, thin line contour 24.5" scale, 12 degree radius with a jet black ebony fretborad and 6150 frets. The pick ups are Seymour Duncan P-90's. There is an Antiquity (Alnico II) in the neck and a Hot SP-90 (ceramic) in the bridge. They really compliment each other well. It is an awesome guitar for my style of playing.

The Warmoth route is expensive. Just the parts for my LP were over $1700. While Warmoth makes excellent quality components, any of their necks will require significant work to set up and finish properly. My luthier spent a good 3 weeks on mine including hand carving a bone nut. The total cost was about $2700. Expense aside, I am extremely pleased with it and have gotten more than my money back in pure enjoyment of the instrument.

I have bought 3 of the Warmoth Pro Necks and yes the unfinished ones required some work hence unfinished but two that were finished were almost perfect but for some tweaking and easy to adjust once installed this is also the case with there Vintage Moderns. I tell people unless you no how to do the frets and the nut as well as finish work to just get a finish neck from them.

I built a Warmoth WGD last year. Whole thing cost $1400 with a ton of upgrades. It is my favorite guitar right now over my Gibson LP, SG and Fender. Since it is my creation, it is that much cooler I think. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I've been looking at parts, and for the design I want, the cheapest possible route is $700, and that's only wood.

It's a Les Paul DC body, slab, with binding.

Finished in transparent blue

A maple neck with maple fretboard, Strat headstock, and finish.

I haven't even gotten into electronics or hardware yet.

Warmoth makes some of the best parts out there. I have used their stuff many times for building guitars for people. I am getting a custom neck from them for one of my Strats soon. You can make a perfect Strat replica straight from warmoth, or do a serious tricked out one, their possibilities are endless. 8)
