Has anyone else found the .120 single ply acrylic pick guard at the link suggested (pickguards.com)? I couldn't find it anywhere. I saw a bakelite version that was half the thickness. I have a source but they're only selling the guard in various kit versions. http://www.stratcat.biz/4031p.shtml
They are awesome! I now literally have (under the hood) a DG strat. I recommend highly. However, as a builder, I would still like to find a direct source that is a little less pricey and sell only the guard itself. While stratcats kit emulates the real thing, I would like to build my own pickup system using push/pull pots with different pickup combinations. I think the only reason Gilmour has a toggle switch on his guitar is because they didn't have push/pull pots when his guitar was customized for him.

Go to http://www.stratcat.biz/4035.shtml These guys sell the pick guard your looking for.
You'll have to email them and tell them that you just want the pick guard but they'll sell you one. I got one recently for $30 which included the shipping. Not too bad.

Or there's www.wdmusic.com in the States and www.wdmusic.co.uk in the UK. More pickguards than you can shake a stick at. Here's the .com site's SSS Strat selection. Many black p/g options here:

A single ply black Strat 'guard is not an obscure item. Why, even Fender themselves do one as an aftermarket part...

Cheers - C

Thanks for the links but I suspect I'm going to find that all of the single ply pickguards are half the thickness of the one being discussed in this thread. So far stratcat.biz is the only place I've been able to find: Black acrylic, .120 thickness, with rounded edge. It's a very unique and beautiful pc. But I read on their site somewhere that they don't make them so I was just in hopes to find an original source.

Hi jlondon. Did you look at WDMusic's page that I linked to? If so you will find in the paragraph at the top that if they don't stock the pickguard you want they will also make to order. I've used their custom pickguard cutting service and it works beautifully.

That 'guard can be yours if you want it.

Cheers - C
