I just purchased a HW1 limited edition strat with '69 pickups. I notice that the middle pickup is not effected by either tone control. Is this normal? Does anyone have info on this model? Thanks.

So is the bridge pickup affected by one of the tone controls?

It's hard to get specs on special/limited editions. You'll have to check out your own wiring to get the wiring diagram. It's easy to change it, if you don't like it, you know.

My 2007 Hiwy 1 has a tone control on the bridge & on the neck, no tone control on the middle. I think a limited edition would reflect that only the pickups are different, but most likely the same wiring set up.

Thanks for the info. Yes, the bridge pickup as well as the neck pickup have tone controls. Apparently, that is the way HW1's are.

The Highway one has the Grease bucket wiring which is pretty straight forward and only slightly different than the other 3 dial 5 position routings they do on all Fender Pickups that are SSS and not S1 types. The Grease Bucket circuit is set up so the middle has no tone control for FULL OUT Sound out of your Pups. If you don't like this, and are good with a soldering iron and can read wiring diagrams Fender has a Support area that has ALL The configurations of Volume and Tone controls as well as another area where you can get the part numbers off your gear and verify those parts are from your guitar. THANK YOU MR. FENDER!
