I'd have to agree with Troublecall. Duane Allman's slide and Rory Gallagher's blasting blues would be the guitar duo I'd love to see. I only recently discovered Rory and can't believe more people don't know more about this guy!
I wish he was still alive.

the only problem is it would get really old on that first day...

Hendrix with Frusciante
-----------or-------------
Hendrix with SRV (with Clapton playing keyboards)

Pete Townshend and Jimmy Page together would be awesome from when they were younger.

Troublecall - This is an inspired and brilliant selection! Can't be topped.

If I was forced to chose other guitarists to play with Rory Gallagher, I would probably select:

Rory Gallagher + Joe Bonamassa = Blues Guitar Heaven!
Rory Gallagher + Izzy Stradlin = Rock Guitar Heaven!

I am going a whole other way with this...Liz Phair and Daize Shayne. :)

Seriously though, Jeff Beck and Adrian Belew. Maybe then I can finally figure out how to use my trem bar.

Hi All:

Sorry for the second post to this thread, but I just thought of another pairing that I think would be sonically interesting to hear:

Robert Fripp & Stephen Malkmus

Thanks;
Ed

Excellent question but one that cannot have the same answer for all of us. The way i see it. Hendrix could well play with anyone from the list below and still knock people out cold. As you can see every single one of the players below have been influenced by Hendrix to some degree. i mean who isn't?? Maybe the KKK, taliban militants and the Aryan master race aren't but all of us "normal" folks are.

SRV, Kenny Burrell, Eric Johnson, Eric Clapton(he already played with hendrix but i bet he would want to again as the last score stood Hendrix 1 Clapton nil), Satriani, Vai, Hammett, malmsteen, mayer, buddy guy, gary moore, John Mclaughlin(already played), Jeff Beck (already played), john frusciante, kim thayil, mike mccready, paul mcartney, mick jagger, kieth richards , ronnie wood and the list goes on.

Every single one of the artists above have either borrowed from Hendrix or have taken an element of Hendrix a few steps further. Some have known Hendrix personally and grown musically with him. All of this makes for an electrifying performance whatever the genre these artists come from.

peace

I would like to see Eric Clapton and Duane Allman together again. It's too bad that Duane is among many other great deceased guitarists. I love Derek & the Dominoes - been listening to 'em most of the day today.

I totally agree. I think in a sense Jimi Hendrix was like the Jesus of guitar and those who were influenced by him are like his prophets spreading the word, or in this case the music. I'm not going to say he's the best guitarist ever because that's a subjective taste, but he was very influential no doubt. He influenced me as a guitarist, that's for sure.

Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley. (I'd make him grab a strat)

weird combo, I know, but I'd really want to see them. and if it isn't really cool I could always put them apart and go to their concerts seperately
