As far as being serious goes, I'd probably choose SRV and B.B. King. :D

I couldn't agree more....

Duane Allman is in my opinion the greatest overall guitar player in rock history....

Rory Gallagher again in my opinion is the most versatile guitarist who could play acoustic, electric and slide guitar, write, sing, produce and play several other instruments.

THEY BOTH WERE GREAT SOLOISTS WHO COULD IMPROVISE AND NOT PLAY THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN !!!!!
