Stratosphere why not post this on the ask mike eldred section of the site. The guitar is obviously customshop and as we all know he's the man for all things CS. Nice guitar my best guess is an alder body with a maple cap. It is only a guess though based on the lack of grain around the back and the quilted top. Quatersawn neck too.

Your not gonna break it down for spares are you?

Actually, from the heel it's a slabsawn neck, no?

Just been reading an interview with John Suhr, who believes there is no meaningful difference at all between slabsawn, riftsawn and quartersawn neck timber, as far as stability and tone are concerned. Which puts him at odds with various other luminaries we can think of!

As far as flamed maple on anniversary Strats is concerned, a couple of weeks ago Forum user Bertje posted good pictures of his very beautiful 1996 Anniversary Strat (that year being the 50th anniversary of Fender as a company. Frankly, almost every year is a significant anniversary of something guitar related!).

Very unusually, Bertje's Strat has flame maple on the front and the back. Also a similar tobacco burst looking finish to strat-o-sphere's:

Obviously there was a look developing in the mid-'90s for how anniversary Strats should be done...

Cheers - C

Sounds like Suhr is laying some groundwork to lower production costs.

I found a stratocaster built for the Guitare center 30th anniversary in 1994(250 made).

Just curious to know if your Guitar Center strat is MiA or MiM?

[quote="evad44"]Here's some pics of the 40th ann. emblem that reads 40th ann.of the stratocaster and the neck plate that reads 1994 Fender stratocaster 40 years and still rockin'
to get your pics on here you can use photo bucket.com to upload your pics there then copy the img code and paste it on here.
hope this helps you out

Hi evad44, looks like a nice strat..well cared for. I'm looking at buying a used MIA strat 40th anniversary purchased in 1994 can you give me any advice on what to look out for when I inspect it. The guy selling it has described some of the features shown in your pics. It's sunburst with maple fretboard. The serial no. is N3+6 digits and is located on the front of the headstock. It comes with a hard case (curved on the left hand side when viewed from the top) with red plate with fender logo in silver.

Is this like yours? ..... as I'm checking if it's a legitimate strat as its being offered to me at a reasonable price.

I'm a beginner and any help would be very welcome...as I'm just learning about strats.

[color=blue]Hi, I'm a Italian collector and have the same guitar (62 of 250). The cost of this guitar (in the year 1994), was $999,99 in the Guitar Center's prosure (I have), where was written: Anniversary stratocaster Linited Edition 30th Anniversary Model. An Instant Collector's Item. Guitar Center's 30th Annyversary Fender Stratocaster is a true work of American craftsmanship. From its unique Sunbrust finish to its warm classic Strat tone, this is one truly collectable and playable guitar. Hurry in - with only 250 in production, they'll go fast!. Is made in USA. The neck of this guitar is with ebony finger bord 22 fret maple neck and nut is in genuine ebony. The pickups was three tex mex fender single coil (7,4 bridge-6,4 middle-6,4 neck). Today, the value of this rare guitar is over 2000 Euro.

Hi, I also own one of these Guitar Center 30th Anniversary Strats and I am offering it for sale at ebay Germany right now. If anyone is interested in buying it I can check international shipment costs. See here: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130375483392&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT#ht_557wt_1167

If you read those two posts and think wow this could be a great investment think again.

Fender special runs aren't that unique. It might even lessen the value to have the store name on it.

Still everything is collectible. Lets see how well it does on Ebay. I would be surprised if it gets past 1000€ and someone actually ends up paying for it.

Yes...This can be true, but the good investment is to feel its sound. I have a lot of others Fender Strat, but for me this is the best.

There have been several stores/businesses over the years that have had special run Fenders made.A company that currently has a line of special run Fenders is Greg Koch-Cream City Music- with only 10 of each line produced in either Trans Daphne Blue or Trans Surf Green they are available in NOS,Closet Clasiic,Relic and Heavy Relic. You can get the full run down at: www.creamcitymusic.com You can get either Strats or Teles. All are made by Dennis Galuszka.Personally I'd love to have a Limited Edition Jaguar Strat.Alain LaFrance was lucky enough to acquire one, they are without a doubt the most beautiful special run Strats ever made.
