I just picked up an 08 MIA standard. The tuning in the open and 12th frets as well as the intonation are all good but I have noticed that when fretting other notes that they are out of tune. I placed an electronic tuner on it and discoverd that half to two thirds of the frets on each string are out of tune. The tech who did the set up tilted the neck raised the saddels and raised the tremelo. Is this something that can be worked out or should I be taking it back and ordering a new one. Any help would be great.
Thanks

Take it back to the tech and show it to him. He should redo the setup if he did it incorrectly at no additional charge. If he says it's the guitar and not him, I'd ask him to put that in writing in case it needs Fender warranty work. But if you have time, return it and exchange it.

Hey Guys
Thanks for the replys. The tech told me that the tuning and intonation had to be set. The open strings were tuned then itonation was checked. The intonation was good and the tuning on the 12th fret when strings were depressed was good. The tech then told me that the tuning on the 6th and 3rd frets also had to be depressed and adjusted via the saddles. My thought is if you adjust the tuning on the 6th and 3rd fret via the saddles then you have just put the intonation out. What do you guys think? :?:

Is the truss rod set correctly? Neck twisted?? I should hope not, but wood does do what ever it wants sometimes. Sounds like the neck is crap. I'd give them one more shot then ask for a new one... Maybe try a different tech first? I've learned to do this myself because I know I will do a good job. Plus saves a few bucks... The Setup directions are pretty good on this site. Good luck.

Is it really noticeable? I mean do you really hear a cosiderable kind of bad intonation there? or is it the normal acceptable range .... I read before that there will always be a little intonation problem in all guitars.... and they made special nuts to fix that problem ....... :)

Hey Guys,
The neck has just a small amount of relief but does not appear to be twisted, as far as the tuning goes the guitar seems to be within an acceptable range and from what I understand no guitar is in perfect tune anyways. The intonation is bang on, the 12th frets are in tune, the 6th frets are all in tune but the high E and on the 3rd fret all but one are out of tune.
