Hey guys, just wanted to post for joy...

I just got 2 new old strats, well not real old.
I got a sienna sunburst 2005 HSS with the S1 switch and tex-mex singke coils with diamondback hummer, rosewood finger board and G&G black case.
Seems the guy bought it and stuck it under his bed as an investment....didn't work out so good for him but the guitar is daed mint so worked out great for me.

The second one is a 60th anniversary commemorative american strat, 3 tone sunburst CZ on the headstock and diamond neck plate. has vintage single coils and a snazy silver G&G case with red crushed felt and 60th diamond embroidery, same deal bought for an investment and put under the bed.

Also picked up a Traynor YCV40WR with the extension cab, and they sound fantastic through it.

I am a happy camper right about now!

Hey guys sorry for the delay, i have been under the weather the past few days and now i have a gig tonight but will take some detailed pics of both strats this weekend (Sunday) and post a link since I dont know how to put pics here but can host them on my music site.
I gave them both a good play yesterday for the first time and they are surely different beasts.
The commemorative strat (alder with 57 single coils)is great for blues rock, actually pretty heavy rock...
The HSS (TexMex singles and DB hummer in ash) is great for blues and jazz and even rock...IMHO the ash looks wayyyy better as far as the wood and finish goes.
Also the commemorative appears to be a 3 piece and the HSS is a two piece and seems heavier.
The Siennna Sunbust on the HSS is absolutely gorgeous, I love it! I am going to add gold hardware and a couple things from greasy groove to make it my own, but will un-molesy the 60th for obvious reasons...lol
The Traynor YCV40WR with extention cab makes both these guitars sing, this is my third amp in the line and my second WR version...I love these amps with a good strat plugged into them. No need for pedals, but it does very well with "individual" stomp boxes.
The case that came with the 60th is absolutely the best looking case I have ever seen a strat come in, silver wrapped with vontage logo and 60th embroidered in the plush crushed red inside with a large trap door to hide all the case candy.
Tommorow the pics will be here...can't wait to show them off!

Billy...

I also own a 60th anniversary with the "Solarium" case (hope I spelled that correctly). Yes, it is quite beautiful, but also very fragile. By that I mean the silver covering scratches/tears easily. I gig with my 60th, but carry it in a nice gig bag. My '78 lives in that case which is kept in storage. I've seen too many of those cases prematurely trashed before they even leave the store. I recommend never leaving the house with that case:)

I was thinking the same thing, it's beautiful but looks and feels like It would hang on anything if not extremely careful. i will probably do the same as you and store it and bring it out on special occasions.

Yeah, I think it was designed to compliment the whole Anniversary theme, not as a road-case. I'm probably the only one who takes that guitar to work, though LOL
