This is an often asked/answered question. Search The Forums post on this subject. Go to the website for Actodyne or Google Lace Sensor pickups. The Lace website will give you an in depth review of this pickup's technology and the current catalog of products.

These pickups can still be found new in the MIA Buddy Guy Artist Series Strat, and used in first generation EC Strats, and in any of the Strat Plus series guitars.

The first generation pickups, the 'gold' sensors, were wound to vintage strat tone. The website will take you from there. One of the advantages of the sensors is that they are not affected by magnetic string damping.
