I bought a 60's 70's vintage 3" and 4" ace strap from ebay... nothing like it. I also like the Levis leather straps as well, brown or black.

I have a Levi 2 inch brown leather strap on my HWY 1 Sunburst. I think it is 5 feet when it is fully extended. They are adjustable. I think it gives it character and it feels nice. Not to mention that the nylon straps always cut into me in the past.

I like 3" suede straps. There is a company named ONORI make same nice straps just a little hard to find at times.
Heres a site for them;

I use and like the fender monogram straps and plain old Ernie Ball straps.

Hello Il1991,

Did you say "wood" strap?

I use one of those thin leather jobs
with a sheepskin backed moveable pad.
It has an oltimey vibe about it.

Cheers.

I have a Sedona model strap from http://www.eyelandenterprises.com/index.html - it's 2 1/2" wide, padded and very soft - my daughter gave it to me for my 63rd birthday last year. They make some really nice straps - very well made - in many different colors - this one is Gold.

Here's a shot of it with my 2006 Squier Cherryburst Strat - it goes quite well.

PS Edited to add strap color and fix the width

I was using the Fender logo strap that came with my Strat but after awhile it feels like a seat belt cutting into your shoulder. I got a 3.5" wide leather strap and the weight of the guitar is distributed more evenly and feels better.

Gotta use my old, worn in 3" wide leather strap for total comfort. Also, Dunlop or Schaller straplocks are a must.

I went into a music store and asked for help with straps. The guy said, "Oh, for God's sake, just pick one out."

Soggy, find yourself another music store. If thier not willing to help no matter what your looking for then their too independant. You can get more help in these forums then from someone like that.

It's the only negative experience I ever had at this store. Prices routinely beat the internet or Guitar Center. My guitar salesman knows me and knows the products he sells. He's actually talked me out of spending money needlessly from time to time. The average guitar salesman has been with the store for over fifteen years. The store is often rated the number one music store in the nation.

So nobody's perfect.

Maybe the guy was having a bad day. Either way, a salesman is there to help and he should have had more patience than that. Just my opinion.
