I'm not such a big fan on signature guitars, I like to have a guitar to call my own, but I gotta admit that the SRV Lenny signature looks pretty hot. :D

I love Eddie and with all respect but his signature CS fender is ridiculously expensive and "beat up" for that kinda price!I would prefer to bust my money on Lenny......and i'm a fan of 3TS strat... :D

+1

I wouldn't go for a signature Strat either with the remote exception of the custom shop Robin Trower, but if I had to choose between those two, then it'll be a Lenny. Would never choose the Clapton, although i'm a big fan of Eric.

SRV over EVH any day.
Stevie's guitar playing was about the tone coming from the guitar (and his hands).
Eddie's playing was about the tone coming from his toys.
If I'm buying a signature guitar, I'm going for the one named for a man who got sounds out of his GUITAR.

Love,
Todd

Well, his toys are awfully good.

Eddie is amazing.
And there is, perhaps, a flaw in my arguement. I love Jimi Hendrix and he certainly used toys.
But my original thought I think is valid. If you're gonna buy a guitar for it's SOUND, it would be good to buy one played by an artist who didn't disguise that sound with toys.

Having said that and as a Lefty, I want a Hendrix Strat. A righty flipped over like Jimi played. Since I can't do that, I wouldn't mind a SRV flipped over. Now, what guage strings do I have to put on it, 14's?

Love,
Todd

I am not a fan of Signature Guitars. If I were to get one it would not be either of these two I would get a Custom Artist Danny Gatton Telecaster.

Does it come with the nail file stuck into the bridge?

Love,

Must say that, having played most of the Artist Series guitars one can find on the usual shopping tours, I don't see the SRV, as produced, as being responsible for Stevie's tone. Have heard the same feel coming out of several of the other guitars he's performed with including the 'Lenny', and the 'lipstick' pup guitars. Its the artist through the signal chain and out to you.

My preference, unlike one of our esteemed colleague out there, will always run to the Clapton, or the MIA Buddy Guy. They are very playable guitars, have a vintage feel, and an extremely versatile powerplant.

There has also been a very strong advocacy, in the past for the JV MIM
Stratocaster.

None of them.

The only one I would like is the set neck Ritchie Blackmore signature, because it's not the average Strat you can find everwhere.

I disagree. Back in the late 70's, Eddie let Ted Nugent tried out his gear because of Nuge's curiosity of the hype with Eddie's sound. Nuge could not get Eddie's tone with Eddie's gear . Eddie sounds like Eddie regardless of what gear he uses.
