"What Strat do you have?"

Isn't it better to ask "What Strats do you have?"

My answer is: I have mostly old ones, back when there was only one model, namely, the Stratocaster (no non-tremolo versions).

I do have a couple newer ones: American Series, Highway One HSS.

And a doubleneck "parts-o-caster."

I have a highly modified mid-90s MIM Standard....

The only things I've replaced over the years are the neck, the body, the tuners, the pickups and pots, the pickguard and backplate, the bridge, the inertia block, trem arm, strap buttons, input jack, the case...

In fact, the only original part left is the neck plate.

Ha, ha, that's a good one. What kind of neck and body did you use?

You could have rebuilt the original guitar with the left over parts, no?

Actually, i sold them, one at a time, for a total of twice what i paid for the guitar! :D

The guitar is now in its final incarnation.... Warmoth neck ("Clapton" profile, compound radius, 6105 frets, ebony board with abalone dots, bone nut, Schaller locking tuners w/ebony keys), Warmoth body ("hollow" mahogany finished in Danish oil and beeswax), EMG SV (Strat Vintage) pickups wired with a blender-pot scheme, Callaham 'vintage' bridge, Warmoth black pearl plastics. It has the visual vibe of an old cello, and plugged straight into my tweed Princeton it sounds like the love-child of a Strat and a 335.

OK... I'm obsessed with these things. Here goes: '50's RI in Daphne Blue. '60'S RI in pink paisley. '60's Reverse Headstock in Oly White. '70's RI in Natural and an '04 Deluxe Super Strat in Honey Blond. All have maple necks. All are MIM except the Paisley which is CIJ.
