I don't really know. Mine came to me used. And since strats are modular, I have a frankenstein of sorts. It looks like a Classic Series 50's strat because the vintage tuners and bridge and the neck color and shape. Angel wind string tree. Thin silver spaghetti logo. Black body with 4 ply tortise pickguard (definitely NOT from Classic Series 50's). There is a low ouput single coil at the neck that sounds really good, a midrange pickup in the middle with staggered pole pieces, and a seymour duncan hot rail at the bridge. My favorite setting is either the bridge PU alone or the bridge and mid PUs with the tone control cut back to about 7. I play this thru a 1977 Fender Champ silverface with just a touch of Holy Grail reverb.

I've found my tone.

Well, I'm an old geezer, I have a Strat I bought new in 1975 or '76, sunburst finish. It came with all black "plastic" (pickguard, pup covers, knobs, switch end), which, I heard somewhere in a review, was pretty rare. anyone know if this is true? I also have a 50th anniversary sunburst strat with white plasticky parts! I have eleven guitars total, and that old strat is my most favoritest. Hope I don't sound like I'm bragging, just sayin'...... Rock on!

I have a 1995 American Standard Strat in 3 tone sunburst with a rosewood fretboard. Everything is stock.

And I have a 2005 American Series Strat in Chrome Red with a maple fretboard. Replaced bridge pickup with a Hot Rails and neck pickup with a SSL-5. Custom chrome knobs.
