My old Burned Strato

Burned? Huh?!? Okay, please tell us THAT story, stoni :!:

Well, I try shortly. Many years ago a fireman find in a collapsed and burned house in Austria. The plastic case was melted on the Strato. Sombady smuggled through the border (then was The Iron Curtain) to Hungary.
Then started my long ,long work, and love.

I just went thru the entire thread and only found 2 EJ owners. I'm curious, is it the price? I saw several high end strats. I just found it odd that such a fine instrument doesn't have a better showing.

Thanks, stoni. You need to embellish it ... you ran into a burning house.

Instead of saving a dog and a priceless Picasso, you grabbed a strat and ran to safety. Yeah, that's the story.

Great story. It's a shame about the dog, but the strat had to be saved! Now that's a Profile in Courage.

Doesnt count since this is a Fender Strat post LOL!! Just kidding. Its a Black Sparkle Godin Freeway Classic HSH. It is considered the working guys guitar since its no frills and cost 475 brand new. Looks fragile but is is tough.

I still have to say I own the very best strat I have ever layed hands on.
I bought the limited edition 50th ann. American series strat back in 04 and it has the best neck and tone of any guitar I have ever owned !!!

what is funny is that I also bought the deluxe limited edition and its long gone, the american series for what ever reason got the Custom Shop 54 pups and all the good looks too, two tone burst, single ply guard, awesome ash body and thankfully they left the gold to the deluxe only and put nice chrome hardware on the AMSE.

I have tried tons of strats since then to try to find a mate and everything just comes up short.

I guess I found my soul mate in this one !!!!!!

MIM Stratocaster Standard with rosewood fretboard in midnight wine. Gorgeous color that sometimes looks black, sometimes purple, sometimes red. And the rosewood fretboard just feels better than maple to me.

MIM strat in olympic white, MIA soft v profile maple neck, two noiseless single coils and a Dimarzio tonezone humbucker. Pickguard/pickup covers/knobs are black.

I'm thinking my next upgrade will be a little one, purely cosmetic; changing the plastic volume and tone dials to black knurled metal ones, like the telecaster knobs.

Further down the line will be a MIA Highway 1 body, 3 tone burst, from ebay (they go for about $200) as I really would like a nitro finished body, and also a Fishman piezo bridge when I have the moolah to spare.

I have

2001 standard in cobalt blue w/maple neck
2003 American fat strat Texas special in surf pearl.
2004 50th anniversary deluxe in sunburst w/ maple neck
2004 50th anniversary American in sunburst w/ maple neck
2005 deluxe player sunburst w/ maple neck.
2007 JV in olympic white.

Most have Callaham enhancements and all get played regularly... some are in dire need of a fret crowning and dressing.
