Same deal found at two Guitar Centers in MN. One was a Sunburst but had some finish nicks. The other store had a Blonde but the fret ends were very sharp. I am really debating on the Blonde one, however.

Are they at 999 plus 150 off?

Yeah, it is actually at the Edina store. They have it on hold for me. I'm gonna have to make up my mind quickly.

Sounds like a great deal! I wonder why they are clearance these that low? Is it because its an old stock or something? Getting newer ones in?

My opinion - back in July I went through the same motions with myself, actually. Playing only for a short while, but fell in love with a Strat that I felt was WAY too much for me (quality and price-wise) at the time. I went ahead and jumped and purchased the guitar (my American Deluxe) and I am so very glad that I did. It has kept me so inspired to play, plus the quality of the instument just makes the playing that much more enjoyable. Your son will be stoked!

Worse case senario - you got a great guitar for a great price. If your son falls off and doesn't want to play anymore then you have a nice guitar for yourself - or you could sell it and get at least what you paind for it - probably more.

Good luck and enjoy!

We thought of selling it on Ebay or Craigslist if he hadn't continued to practice and improve. Well he stepped up this past year and is now practicing around 1 to 1.5 hrs per day. The improvements and interest seems to keep on coming. I hope some of you guys got in on that deal from last Christmas also. He opened it and said Oh Wow! it's a real Strat not a Squire. We are now going to look up the specs online so he can get an idea of what he truly has his hands on. I hope he plays it down to a toothpick and asks for another one.

Merry Christmas.

Hey one of the cable channels just advertised an all day marathon of newly remastered Three Stooges episodes on New Year's Eve. Whoop, Whoop, Whoop.

You do realize that this guitar is about as good as you can get with a regular model right? In order for your kid to step up from his Strat, you'll have to go Custom Shop. LOL

I'm guessing your a glass half empty kind of guy. Well, if I find a CS priced at 1/3 the going price and have the money or credit it will probably happen in a few years.

As a child I played multiple sports. My parents did without to get me to and from practices and games for more than 12 years of all season sports. I was provided with better gear than most at all times. Typically, purchased off season or last year's best. I could tell the difference between the crap import gear and the USA made gear. That is why our child uses Nakona baseball gloves, Worth bats, Fender guitars, etc. The far east manufacturers seem to grasp the high tech stuff pretty good but something that requires a "feel" to it's use often escapes them.
