Ok fellow forum friends, I got a question/problem - Help please, advice needed!

I have been a loyal strat player since I got my first one at 16 in 1991 - Over the years I have had a number of MIA strats - well, last week my gf gave me an early Christmas gift, a 2008 Les Paul Standard - Now, for a brief time, I owned a LP Studio, didnt care much for it, and also owned a MIA Tele for a short time - other than that, the last 17 years, ive been a loyal strat player - my friends always give me hell saying that strats arent the only guitars out there, but I have always stayed true to my strats and thats all ive played

Problem is, well, guess it isnt a problem really, but, this new Les Paul is the best playing guitar ive ever owned - it sounds amazing, plays like a dream, and its beautiful! It almost feels like im cheating on my girls!! lol

Is it a sin for a strat guy to stray?

IMO, you need to stop thinking of it in those terms. I have three Fenders and three Gibsons, and I couldn't be happier. Let your mood decide what you will play. Enjoy each guitar for what it is, and be glad you've got a gal that'll shell out for you!!

You should get it. If it is the best guitar you ever played on then don't pass up the opportunity. Besides, a strat and a les paul are like a match made in heaven, you get the best of both worlds. I mean I have an American Deluxe V Neck Strat and it's the best guitar I ever played on, but if I find a guitar that's better, then I might consider switching. Go with what you like and don't let others influence you on what guitar you should get. Good Luck 8)

Reality Check:

When Fender gives you your Stratocasters for nothing, then you can have whatever second thoughts. Until then, play and enjoy whatever you like!

LOL!! Thats great!!

I guess its just weird since thats all I have ever played - I really enjoy the new LP - its a beast! Id always wanted one, but just never wanted to pay the cash for them - Now I have no problem shelling out a few grand on vintage strats, but just never could lay the cash out for the other brands

Cheating on your girls? Are you a player or not? lol Enjoy the Les Paul. Gilmour is known for using strats, yet he pulls out a nice LP gold top every now and then.

Play and enjoy! There are lots of players that own and like several brands of guitars.

Hi asg, who can say that he knows anything about guitars, when he only played one brand? When I go to my local guitar store, I make sure that I try a different brand every time, along with Fender models new arrivals. I'm a Fender fan, not a fanatic. Enjoy playing, hey, when you have fun playing, it dosn't matter which logo is on the headstock. (buy Fender) :D

When playing your new Gibson, don't turn your back on your Fenders... They could get jealous and attack you

Enjoy the new axe!

Fender and Gibson are not mutually exclusive. It is good to have both. To be honest, I have been playing my '76 Gibson SG exclusively, as of late. I did change the strings on my Strat today, though ... but I am still not playing it yet. But the tide will turn, and my SG will be the one for sitting for a while...

If you like it just play it man! If you think you are cheating your girls, well, play your new LP for a while and then try play again your girls. You'll feel a great happiness in going back to the "old" times.
What I'm saying is that just for you to like a new brand it doesn't mean you're put the other guitars away..just enjoy them all
