Hallo guys!

Last Summer i bought my first electric, and I was told it was Fenders 50th years anniversary strat from 1996 (when Fender had 50th birthday, not the strat's birthday). Anyway, I have lately started to distrust this information scince I heard someone who said these guitars had to be sunburst colored and have gold plated mechanics. My guitar is black and white, and do not seem to have any gold at all.

Please take a look at the pictures from the link and try to decide what guitar I really do have!

Sorry about the language, but the pictures should probably be understandable!
I appreciate all of your comments!

Adam,

The neck is a true Fender neck. I put your SN through the Guitar Project Dater and here is what it states:

Your guitar was made at the
Corona Plant (Fender), USA
in the Year(s): 1995 - 1996

It does not say whether it is a 50th Anneversity edition or not; however, the date is consistant with that year. It is a nice looking guitar. Does it sound good? Are you trying to sell it? If not, have fun with it.

Thanks for your help. But still I do not know what guitar I have, exept that it must be a real fender made in America.

Have you noticed the two things which I can't name, between the tuners and the first fret? Isn't that rare for strats? It also has a tbx tone control and a 50th anniversary sticker.

I'm not planning to sell my guitar, I just wanted to know what I bought. It sounds good, I think. The weakest link is probably myself and how I use the gear. Fender guitar, fender amp and a boss pedal - but it still does not sound like the pros do.

Could be cool if it was only me who had a guitar like this. It would make my guitar kinda personal....

It is a 50th-as in the 50th Anniversary of the Fender corporation as opposed to a "50th Anniversary Strat." All of Fender's MIA guitars from that year had the sticker on the back, but they are stock instruments, albeit very good ones-I have a 50th Strat that I was going to sell when I got it in a package deal, but once I played it all my other guitars, including a couple of "pieces" became the backup band.

I know what you are talking about. I had to look at it a few times before I realized what you were talking about. My HWY 1 Stratocaster has them as well. I do not know the name of them either, but they are used to pull the strings onto place so they are more in line with the tuners. I am told that they help with keeping the strings in tune better. Some Fenders have them and others have a different mechanism. Some models have one and others like ours have 2.

As far as your sound, what are you trying to achieve? Metal? Country?
I play metal and I use a Crate GFX 65 watt with DSP on board. I also use Boss effect pedals. Just for a Metallica-type sound I use a Metal Zone Distortion (MT-2) and Equalizer (EQ-7). My amp has reverb on board. I've used this set-up for a good number of years. Use the pedals on the clean channel. My "Seek and Destroy" sounds just like the recorded version. My Paranoid sounds like the orginal and when I change the settings a little, like Megadeth's version.

Heavy on the bass and treble and low in the mids should help you achieve this sound. Hope this helps.

Im pretty sure that the plate that bolts on the back to the neck should be engraved and say fender anniversery edition.

So my guitar is just that model as told when I bought it?
That would be good!

I've played acoustic guitar for some years, but now with my strat I will try to learn some u2 and contemporary worship (with pedal notes and drone notes). I say like the edge - less is better (at least easier than a super fast metal solo!)

I play it through a blues junior and a boss 02-2. I'm not to sure if the pedal suits my needs. I have heard that digitech bad monkey and screaming blues would match better with my genre, but I don't know. All demos of the screaming thing on the internet are blues and country songs.
