Have you guys/gals ran into problems with your guitars when the neck isn't lined up centered with the strings as in either the high E or the low E string is sitting closer to the edge of the fretboard while the other side has room further away from that side of the edge. I always having to adjust mine upon receiving the guitar. Some I can manage, while others are just too off centered.

Hi Morrissey. Sounds like you already know how to do the adjustment, so the only remaining advice is... don't buy guitars sight-unseen!

Must say, it is not an issue I've been particularly plagued with on stock Fenders. It only seems to arise on aftermarket necks that don't necessarily fit the pocket perfectly - and even then the solution is simple.

Cheers - C

This one, I may have to bring it to the shop to do a better adjustment. I've adjusted my other ones fine, this one is a hard one..like trying to reel in a real big fish. I think over half of the guitars Fender and non Fender brand, I always have to do an adjustment from mid price to even high end ones! I do think this one is a keeper, its just setting that darn neck centered!

Both my Fenders had this. It's a case of slightly loosening the strings and neck bolts and giveing the neck a firm push in the right direction. (Note the strings only get too close to the fretboard edge after the 12th fret)

It's a bit like choking a chicken.

(there's brief mention on it in the stratocaster Chronicles where it mentions the sales people having to wrench the neck into place out of sight of the shop owners, if I remember rightly)

I'll give it a shot again tonight. This one's a doozy. The problem is when I loosen the bolts and push the neck over a bit, it keeps going back to its original place. Maybe I should hold the neck harder in the right position while tightening the bolts back.

Sounds like a case for shims to me. If its dropping to the floor one between the back of the socket at the bottom. If its raising one at the top of the pocket. I have had success in the past by getting the neck in place then tightening the 2 screws really tight. at the top if you pushed the neck up/at the bottom if you pushed it down, I usually tighten neck screws like car wheel bolts. I.e diagonally from each other.
Sorry i cant be more help.
