I just found this video of the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue vandalized.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UK4K7n5cfT0

I can't believe this. Whoever did this has no appreciation for the blues, or music for that matter.

Idiots. Well, I imagine that - if they live long enough - the vandals will some day have heroes. Then they may understand.

Love,
Todd

Unfortunately this is not the first time and probably won't be the last that Stevie's statue has been vandalized.

I live in Austin where that statue is. Besides being embaressed for my city, maybe I need to start a watch-dog group to keep watch over it?

Catch em, hang em, the next ones will think hard before trying it again.

I have no time for low life vandals, and can see no reason for allowing their continued existence.

What a lot more nice stuff we could have in the world if it weren't for vandals. [Heaves a long, world weary sigh...]

Cheers - C

Here in New York, there is always someone hanging around Strawberry Fields taking care of the big John Lennon "Imagine" mosiac. That way, it's always taken care of. People leave flowers, poems, guitar pics, etc. And it's taken care of and renewed every day.
And we bring guitars. There's often a Beatle jam going on.

Could you get a group of musicians from Austin to do that for SRV?
Turn it into a cool place to meet and swap stories, etc.?

Love,
Todd

I had seen the article about SRV`s statue being vandalized with red paint thrown on it. Probably some stupid kids that had too much beer and not enough interests. If the vandals who did that to the SRV statue spent as much time doing something constructive as SRV played his guitar we would be a lot better off.

I've had the pleasure of visiting Austin a couple of times, including the SRV statue. I even stood in front of it wearing my Fender "Flying Guitars" shirt to get my picture taken (I know, what a geek). It was very disheartening to see this great example of public art defaced that way, but at least it looked like the City was able to restore it.

As for the miscreants that did this terrible thing, I say if they are caught, String 'Em Up! (pun intended)
