I want to buy my very first Fender guitar..... I mean not my first guitar.... just my first fender....... so far I have a Yamaha RGX, a Gibson Les Paul Copy... (kind off like Slash's first guitar) , and a custom Select guitar that really has no Brand name on it cause it was made by the pickup's company.... Anyway the reason I want to buy a Fender is because of the scale length. I read some where that the Strat's use a 25.5 inch scale length. I was thinking that this scale length increases the string tension thus giving me a heavier sound for the hard rock style playing I do. I just want you pro players opinion on this. I would love to hear you thoughts on this and suggest me the right guitar for me... For the neck though I like the RGX's radius .. I'm not sure what it is.... I can't find my own model on the yamaha site as so it seems my guitar model is very out dated according to the local Yamaha Store ........

Isnt your RGX a 25 1/2 scale too? most guitars are 25 1/2 scale... about the radius strats have a more curved radius than your yamaha which I assume has a flatter radius... so you have to take that into account... also it will depend on the string gauge you use about the tension...... for example on lespauls which are 24 3/4 scale if you use 10's gauge then they will have about the same tension than a guitar 25 1/2 scale with 9's gauge .... so it really depends on that mmmmm thats all I can think of right now .... :)

depends on your style and your budget of course, i like to try to play a few different styles on the heavy side.

the past two guitars i bought were

an ibanez rg4exqm for $400 sumthin, and put a dimarzio evo'2 in the bridge. it sounds and looks great and cheap. i like the neck alot and the evo sounds badass, but im not a big metal shredder guy, but to keep in the same grove as my band i just bought my first fender.

the american deluxe strat, for about $1,080 sumthin on sale and im in love from only playing ibanez guitars (there great) theres somthing about the tone and the feel of the strat (i love you david gilmour)

go play them both and see what you like

Dude, I don't know about that. My shorter scale '76 Gibson SG plays way heavier (and I don't mean weight) than my Strat. I dunno, but to me Strats were meant to have SSS -- and an SSS just does not crunch like a Gibson. But that's a good thing ... When I pick up my Strat, I play much more in a Trower heavy blues vein that does not suit the SG. But when I want crunch, I grab the Gibson. Just my $0.02... (maybe $0.01 after today's closing prices)

Oh, Thank you so much guys...... glad to hear you opinions......... now I have a budget around 2500 Dollars or so for my next guitar (FENDER) . Which Fender do you people suggest I get? I mean , like the few Fenders that really shine and you guys think is the best. I'm not quite familiar with Fender yet....

$2,500 is a lot for Fender. It's not like Gibson. If you have that much money for a Fender, you can buy a wide variety of great guitars. If you have that much money for a Gibson you still might be restricted to some guitars. A reason why I like Fender more. :P With that kind of money, you could get an American Standard ($1000), American Deluxe ($1225, I think) and even lots of signature strats. You should also try HSS, (humbucker, single coil, single coil). Play some strats and see what YOU like. Oh btw, you don't have to get the strats I stated, I just gave you a few examples of some strats. :)

Oh, Dear... Thanks dude..... That helps alot..... Haha.... Thank you so much....... Hmmmmmm...... do you know any guitar of that price that would add nicely to a collection of ummmm cool guitars? Oh, and if you can. Do you think you know wether the Ibanez Artcore series guitars are good. I like the look and I've always wanted a hallow body guitar. Just for the blues I sometimes play. Or maybe you could recodmend another hallow body?

Hell, $2500, you can get pretty much anything you want within reason. If you're going to go heavier, you may want to look at a strat with a humbucker (although I agree with the person who said I think they should be SSS', but thats personal choice). You may want to look at a Eric Clapton sig (you may even be able to afford a slightly used Custom Shop EC sig). Those will have the active electronics, and the Mid boost, so you'll get that power you're looking for, it's pretty much like a higher output humbucker when you move it higher up the dial. There's so many choices. Especially in the Mexican series, Roadhouse, TEx/Mex, the list goes on. But if your looking for a harder sound I"d suggest trying a Clapton Series, or a Hot ROd'd strat

Oh yeah, I'd also check out the VG series. It has a built in synth that you just plug into your normal amp. But it gives you the choice of like 5 tunings, plus Humbucker, Telecaster, Acoustic, 12 String, Regular strat, and I think one more. Plus you turn a knob, and presto, you're in drop d tuning, plus G and a bunch of others, Its a pretty cool guitar. Plus it's built of an AMerican Standard, which is a phenomenal guitar in its own right.
