They are about one thousand dollars used from Japan. Check Ishibashi.

As far as I know, the japanese models were three, based on the Strats of the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

When the american model was introduced, it was based on a '56 sonic blue Malmly liked a lot in the period '87/'88, but with a american standard tremolo, therefore it was relatively different from the japanese models.

Since '98 the american model is based on the '72 therefore the difference between the 70's japanese and the MIA is just the body, that for the japanese is made of basswood, and as Malmy pointed out, this makes it lighter.

I've seen three Japanese Malmsteen models ST68-YM, ST71-YM, and ST72YM, based on 1968, 1971, and 1972 Strats, respectively.

I don't remember a '50s version, but I could have missed it.

Yup!

That makes at least 4 different Japanese YJM models.

I believe there is another one which is vintage white in color and its acoustic electric....which is from Fender Japan

The Japanese Fender factory has taken up manufacturing of this special model, a solid-body nylon-string Stratocaster (do notice that there are no pickups and only a volume knob). It requires a 9 volt battery, is made of basswood, has a scalloped maple neck and 6 Mike Christian (US) pickups.Correct me if i'm wrong but was later built by CS US for Yngwie...
