I was just wondering what the best strings are for a Strat. I've been using XLs for a while, but I've been noticing some problems with tuning when I use my trem. I was wondering if Bullets really make a difference with trems or not. If not, what strings do you guys recommend?

I mainly use super bullets in my Strat, but also Ernie Ball and D'addario are good.

Anyway, more important of the bullet to me are the nut and the keys, with my american standard I always had tuning problems but when I switched to a Sperzels and LSR nut I solved them, with any string.

I prefer ernie ball strings myself, but theres 3 guitar shops in my town and only 1 of them sell ernie balls, and everyone buys them when they order more of them so you never find them even there!

I'm stuck with the Dean Markley signature series 9-46, but their good too, stays good in tune and lasts long

what about ghs heavyweights?? I use the 10-60 at half a step down. I wish the treble strings were a guage or two thicker but they give me that gnarly srv sound when grabbed right. i play my guitar a lot so I usually put a new set on every week. I was a big ernie ball fan but they don't make fat enough strings for me anymore

p.s. for those of you wondering its 10, 13, 17, 36, 52, 60

I really want a set like 12, 15, 19, 36, 52, 62

p.s.s. no trem problems with these strings, and I do lots of hendrix.

My question is: What kind of tuning problems?

I noticed my strings performed better when I stretch them really well as I put them on, apply some graphite to the nut, and changed the way I put the string through the heads.

The set up the way to go if you've got some serious issues, just be sure to watch they they do to fix so you don't have to spend $20-$100 everytime a tuning problem comes up.

I used Super Bullets for the longest time but my music store was out so I tried EB Super Slinkys.... Fell in Love I like the tone and the feel. Those bends just seem easier and I don't have to fight it to get a whole step on the bend.

I would move up gradually, you may find going up from 10's to 12's may be a little too much too soon, they will be ALOT thicker, and may need getting used too.
I myself use boomers 10.5's, I feel I get the best of both worlds, a tone more like 11's with the playability of 10's. You may also want to try strings that have heavy plain strings with a lighter wound (not necessarily lighter than you're using right now, but lighter than you'd get with a standard set of the heavier).
As with the silver bullets, I appriciate the design of them, but I dont think ive EVER had the ring type anchors get caught up, then released later. If I did, id think it would happen when changing the strings, then tightening them. The only time that ever happens for me is when changing acoustic strings, and they get caught up in the push-pins, still it gets resolved when tightening them during changing.

Stay with the strings you have and take your guitar to a Tech to get it checked out and setup.

I use GHS Light gauges (10- 46) on all my guitars. I use the same gauge on my Tele, but I use Fender super bullets, because I read that the nickel coating on the strings may lead to less wear on the nickel coated frets. I'll probably go with the Fenders on the Strat Ultra for the same reason.

Hi Guys,

I use the new Ernie Ball Titanium Electric coated strings 9-42 on all my Strats!

There new but I swear they stay in tune much better than conventional strings.

They are reinforced with Titanium and make a huge difference in stability.

With a good set up and these new strings you may solve all your troubles.

Give em a try and see if you feel the same way. These guys know whats up as they are the pioneers of lighter gauge string combinations
