Miami Mike is correct you cannot believe how many times I've had some one say that there is something wrong with there set up, buzz etc... and I tell them to change their cables and it clears it all up. You might as well say your strings don't make a difference. Mike you don't need to add the IMO. It's flat out true. Now if you are looking for a good inexspensive cable if you are on a tight budget, Ibanez makes a good one but like anything else this is something you will want to experiment with to find one that fits you

The Evidence Audios are a tad pricey but brilliant. I'll have to check out the Ibanez.

I have never really understood all of the hype built around Monster Cables... I prefer George L's and they cost a little less. Supposedly Guitar Player Magazine did some sort of test that found the George L's to the highest fidelity cables.

I saw some top of the line George Ls the other day online and they looked really nice and they were relatively pricey too.

I have yet to come across the Ibanez??

There is definitely a middle ground here. A rugged cable with a reasonable length (I say under 15 feet) is the way to go.
Also although all your cables should be of good quality, the one from your guitar to your first pedal or amp should be the best because it's going to longer and carry the weakest signal.

My main cable is a Fender cable that is over 20 years old. It still works perfectly and never had a short in it. So buy a good cable, and you wont have to buy one again :)

BTW, the guy with the HDTV and cheap cables aint so dumb. HDMI is digital. The signal either gets there or it doesn't. A better quality cable isn't going to make the picture better.

Everyone's right about cables being important. You can not go wrong with Hard Truckers Hand-Made Cables by Brian Brown. A whole bunch of top professional guitar players, including the late Jerry Garcia, use these cables. Check out their web site: hardtruckers.com. Cables can be ordered on this site in many different lengths and styles. Very reasonably priced. Sonically these cables transfer every tiny bit of sound. They are "bomb proof" and will never fail so long as you give them reasonably good care. There is no better guitar cable made on planet Earth. Remember, your guitar & amp & other equipment are only as good as the cables connecting them.

The main cables I'm using now are
the Fender cable that came with my Strat and it is OK
I've t got a 20' Rapco cloth cable, it looks vintage and works OK

My favorite cable at the moment is the 20' Planet Waves cable with the disconnect switch in the jack.

Now I'm also using Planet Waves 1' cables as interconnects on my pedal board.
I must say I started off with cheap cables (got a pack of 10 - 1 footers for 10$) and the hum/buzz of interference drove me crazy.

I wish Fender still made the electro volts. They were simple and clean looking with lots of strain relief. Although you couldn't get inside of them with out cutting. Guess I'll just stick with the vintage voltage.

I bought a DiMarzio 10 ft. cable yesterday for my MIM Strat. I was using a 20 ft. coil cable but noticed some crackle from time to time. That stopped with the new cable. Not sure if it was due to reducing the length of the cable or better quailty of the new one or a combination of both.
