1. Does the Deluxe have that spring in the trem hole that they talk about losing on the American? If so I dont have one.

2. When I push the trem all the way in, until it clicks, it seems to work ok. If I push down on the arm fine, but if I pull up it makes a weird banging noise like the bridge smacking into the body. Any ideas?

There is no spring the AD bridge. There is however, a setscrew that you can adjust to increase or decrease the force needed to hold the bar in the trem block. You will see it under the baseplate when you press the bar down (dive) and look under the tail-end of the bridge. Hope that helps with the banging! Cheers!

Take your backplate off and have a look in there whilst working the bridge. I'm sure as you bend up you will find your trem block is knocking against the front of the cavity.

I wonder if the bridge is placed slightly near to the bridge pickup? Do your saddles have to be set very far back on their screws to intonate properly? In these days of CNC routers and such it seems very strange that this issue can still happen.

Whatever, the only sure solution is to have a few mil extra routed out of the front of the cavity beneath the springs. That seems very extreme medicine on a Deluxe... Perhaps just live with it? How wildly do you need to upbend?

Cheers - C
