hey i need a bit of help :( im currentley a cheap skate and have a squire strat but i wanna change ma pickup covers from white to black but when i looked at my pickups i couldnt see a way of getting them off. can any one help me please

You have to pull the pickguard, then unscrew the pickup height adjustment screws until the pickup comes off. pull off the old cover, put on the new cover and then put it all back together.

Use a blow dryer to soften the sealant (I'm thinking it's probably wax) and pull the cover off.

Before I'd heat the pickup to get the cover off, I'd try pushing the cover from the back and a little outwards. Once the seal between the wax and the plastic is broken, the cover should come off easily. But if you want to heat the pickup, be careful that you don't heat the wax too much. If it comes out you'll have to re-pot the pickup.

I should have added that it takes very little heat to soften the wax enough to pull the cover.

The wires that broke off are the ones that lead from the pickup to the selector switch, not wires inside the pickup, aren't they? If you know how to solder, you can easily reattach these wires to the points they broke off from. If you don't know how to solder you could ask around and find someone that can to teach you. It's not very difficult once you get the hang of it.

It's a little corny, I did the pickgard soon after 9/11 and it's been like this ever since. There's a JB jr. in the bridge and Graphtech string savers.
