I just bought the erick johnson stratocaster and I must say this is the best guitar I've ever owned. I have played lp's, and gretch, and ricks but for my money the tones and quality of this guitar is the best I've ever had. Would like to hear what ever people would have to say. :D

After 37 years of playing probably hundreds of strats, the EJ is the finest I've played. Period. That includes Custom Shop, Artist, and any other high priced strat variation.

:D I have to agree about the tone absolutely heavenly. I play through a Vox AC30cc2,with a Vox, Big Ben Overdrive. Alot of the times I just Channel some Stevie Ray Through the amp all Clean like it's beautiful. I'm not knocking The Humbucker Guitars though They have their place, I just got back fron Rush, Snakes and Arrows in Dallas and Lifeson is a testimonial to Gibson. He plays Tobacco Sunburst Custom, He plays a Gibson 59 reissue witha Kahler tremolo and another with a standard tailpiece system. He plays The garrison Acoustics though. Anyway, Read Ed Romans Thoughts on Guitar necks .

EJstrat youre right man. Strats have a special place with me for their unique tone but Humbucker guitars are awesome too! I saw Rush here in Virgina at Nissan Pavillion. They were great! My favorite band of all time!!! Lifesons Les Paul with that Floyd Rose trem is very awesome.

Wow, what a coincidence. I just bought an EJ (sunburst) and also just saw RUSH. I was amazed at how much better Alex sounded compared to the last few tours. He was really cranking! Definitely doesn't say much about those PRS guitars he used to play. Lol. Made me want to get an LP.

In regards to the EJ strat, I am a little paranoid about keeping it in good shape. It seems a bit more 'fragile' than other strats, with the nitro finish and all. I've been leaving it in the case when not playing it. Am I being too careful?

Lol I know it shone a whole new light on Les Pauls for me.

And yeah you might be a little too careful right now but eventually you might not and thats fine. I think Strats look good when they look a little roughed up..cant say that for other types of guitars though which is odd.

I agree!!! Strats seem to be the only guitar (for me) that look good if not better a little beat up.

Thats one of the reasons I bought the EJ. The thin nitro finish really lets the guitar sing and it'll age faster then a poly finish. The sooner it looks like a well played '57 the better as far as I'm concerned.

When I went to buy my first high end guitar I had at first set my sights on the EJ. However a friend who is all Gibson or handmade Robins. Told me to go with a G&L. I went to Memphis and looked at the G&L's and decided to go to The Memphis Guitar center afterward. Upon arrival I was presented with a Sienna sunburst American HSS. I played it and another 60th Anniversary Strat. The only EJ they had wasa white one:). I don't buy white trucks or cars or even guitars. Anyway I bought the Sienna Sunburst, fine guitar,GC hasa policy of one month you can return and get another guitar if you want. I had no plans to do so at all. I was pleased. One day, while cruising the net I ran across a HSS Deluxe LT. The LT is for a locking tremolo which I could not get my mind off of. So as soon as I had a chance I went back toting my beloved Sienna Sunburst(Ash Body). Upon arrival and questions in hand about the LT rig they didn't know what I was talking about. The manager remembered me from before and said "didn't you want a two Tone sunburst Eric Johnson?" I was like oh yeah, knowing it couldn't have been in the store long I entered the "vault" and there it was my EJ. I played it on a vintage Savage amp and fell in love from there on out.

I plan on having a quicksilver built for me as soon as I can. Humbuckers and real inlays and ebony fretboard. Tungue oil neck for sure. The EJ will do for now and I will keep it always.

I have two EJ's - one candy apple red - the other white blonde. The white blonde is by far my favorite. I'm not certain why the comment was made that you should get a sunburst model...they're all really well made and sound absolutely dazzling. I've had over twenty strats in my career - this model is the best I've ever played or heard. I think they're a great choice. I, too, have many other guitars including Gretsches, a Les Paul, a PRS, Guild, Rickenbacker, Teles and more. The EJ is on top!
