I'm getting ready to put a set of Fender Tex-Mex pups on my Strat but I would like to know after I put the screw thru the pickguard and put the rubber tube on the screw-how high should the pick up stick thru the guard. How much should the tubing be compressed? Thanks

Welcome aboard, BBill!

On the low E side, the polepieces of the E string should be no closer than approximately a nickel's thickness from the string; on the high E side, no closer than approximately a dime's distance. Note that many players find best results tonally with the pickups set lower than these maximum parameters I've given you. Don't worry about the tube compression as they are precut from the factory and even though their compression will vary, its all good.

Click support at top of this page,, then click setup,, then stratocaster. Then try specs for Texas specials. you may find you like'em much lower, but this is a excellant starting point. And Fender recomends Texas special specs for Tex-Mex pups.
