This has been kicked around the forums on other threads. Do a search. You'll glean a variety of different perspectives.

Is that the desert brown one? Then my perspective would be - yuk.

Still, could be very useful if you are a soldier in a foxhole in the middle of nowhere in Iraq and need to be able to play your Clapton without being spotted by the enemy. I presume that's what Eric does with his...

FYI:(First off: Hope this finds you well. Keep us posted on any further developments please)
JJ Cale donated a '79 in that finish for auction at Christies in '04. Large headstock, bullet trussrod and "F"-3-bolt neck plate.

Personally, anyone thinking about purchasing this Antigua is going to get more bang for the buck with a Gilmour. Guitar Player made a point of quoting David again with respect to the conditions Fender had to agree to for him to embark on the project: "....they could not make a limited- edition run of very expensive, elitist replicas that would only be available to rich collectors. He wanted the guitars to be very good quality, true replicas, the musicians or fans could hope to afford." The idea for an NOS model was David's.

Now there's an artist with an affection and respect for his audience. Most deserving of respect and admirationl beyond his gifts as a musician.

Hey, is that right? I have a dim memory that perhaps I saw JJ Cale play a guitar like that at a gig in Boston (USA) in the early '90s. I wonder if it was the same one... Great gig, by the way.

Doc, since you ask, may I take us off-thread for just a moment? For no reason other than curiosity I've been wondering: when cvilleira posted that jokey picture of the functional centers of the brain you said my little issue would likely be located in a certain spot. And you were right on the money, which I found most impressive.

Now would that be because all such anomalies happen in that spot? Or did you deduce from the symptons (about which I wasn't particularly specific, after all) that it must be that location?

It pertains to nothing: just fascinated to know how you did it. (...With everyone's indulgence...)

Cheers - C

I take great pains to avoid speaking from an uniformed point of view, so when you gave us the presumptive diagnosis, and working with a small familiarity about the tissues from which this entity arises,(the meninges which line the central nervous system) I did a bit of research for details. One can't presume to know everything, and every bit of something new learned is a gift, hopefully to help some one in future.

Medicine never stops, does it?

So, since you are kind enough to ask, I've now seen the swanky neurologist at the big city teaching hospital - who has confirmed exactly what the country boys said. The arachnoid cyst has very probably been there forever and has nothing to do with the event (he says perhaps 5% of the population have these things but few ever have reason to find out). However, it just could be a developing situation and therefore needs monitoring - so I'll be seeing the inside of scanning machines again at some point.

However, the real cause is much more likely a particularly banal thing that can develop in men in their middle years, for which there is not much treatment and which doesn't even have a glamorous name - but then which is unlikely to have serious consequences. He said that if I'd come to his clinic having had several of these episodes then he'd have been so certain of that diagnosis he'd not even have sent me for a scan.

And that's about it. Watch and wait - but keep the sharp knives at the ready just in case.

Poor vinnyg must be wondering what the heck happened to his perfectly reasonable Clapton Strat thread? Thanks for your support Doc - now back to guitars!

:) - C
