Wait a minute, I may have gotten the wrong information, but. I had read that the contoured neck heel was introduced on the American Deluxe strats in 2002, if that's true, than either this guitar isn't a 2003, or it's not an American Deluxe, because from looking at the photo's, it doesnt have that feature?????

And, it doesn't have locking tuners.... Who would take off locking tuners and put on regular shcaller tuners??? And I don't know what I'm talking about?? Also, It may be different back in 03, but on mine, it didnt have the "contoured body" decal on the headstock, those are on American Standards, which I think this is.

There's no way a seller who makes false claims can have 100% approval rating. BTW, I read the bottom, he added the "read the description" and my 100% approval rating sometime today, it didnt say that yesterday.

I've put the question to one of my contacts and we'll see what kind of response we get.
Hopkins hypothesis could be backed checked if the COA supplied with the guitar could be tracked.

Hehe! I've sent him a polite question asking about shipping to the UK. Soon as I hear back I'll make him an offer - of $200. We'll see how that stokes his fire.

I'm doing it strictly by the book - in case I win the guitar! Don't want to win for $200 and then have $1000 shipping demanded of me!

Stay tuned...

Cheers - C

I've asked him if he'll swap the frailins out for the stock pickups. All we need now is for Hop to ask him why the heel isn't contoured, the we could report him for selling counterfit goods.

Is it just me or - when you look at the pictures of that Strat - is the S/N blured out?
Also, is the picture of the back of the headstock from a DIFFERENT guitar?
It is a different color and it's been taken (with a tag on it) at a guitar store (amps in the backround).
The $400 price might be good or a ripoff. Can't tell because his description is too vague about what quality level the parts come from.
Finally, is it just ASSEMBLED in America with non-US parts?
Consider me suspicious.

Love,
Todd

And for that matter it has black dot markers, not abalone. Wrong tuners, heel and dots. Who knows what the pickups really are? And the bit about the frets is just weird... In short, he's put a moto pickguard on a Sienna Sunburst American Series and is calling at a Deluxe.

How much should a legit 2003-4 Am Series be selling for in dollars these days? I want my information correct for when the gentleman cares to fall into communication with me - and for when I report him to Ebay...

Cheers - C

I have an S-1 on my HSS 2005 Am Series - but I don't know when that feature came in. If he called this a modded 2003 Am Series then there would be nothing to question except the price - and legally speaking he's allowed to put any crazy price he likes on it. To describe it as a Deluxe don't seem right - but you others know more about the specs of that instrument from four or five years ago than I do.

The fella just contacted me with a question about location in response to mine about shipping. Perfectly polite so far so nothing juicy to post here yet - how frustrating!

Still, I love that his Ebay page is headed "New Discounted Holiday Price". How generous!

Anyway, still like to know what people feel the right price for a 2003 Am Series would be?

Cheers - C

I got a email back from the seller and he said he does not understand my question about a contoured heel! He does not know what I am talking about. He said that it has the original neck and he has done nothing to it except the things he listed ! ? :?

heres the reply he gave me

'No it American deluxe guitars are not considered a collectors piece it's a awesome players guitar...and i dont have the original pick ups i threw them in the garbage cause that's where those stock one belong....and value is in the eye of the beholder..sorry wrong guitar for you:)'

I thought it was a anniversary model? If their not future collecters pieces then what chance does anything else have? All them expensive customshops aren't going to become collecters pieces, after all they make them every year.
What were the stock pickups?
He's avin a giraffe :?
