It looks like a good deal. But what's the deal with the headstock??? I haven't ever seen them look like that, the Fender decal is in a wierd position, and the triangle part in the middle looks smaller than the rounded end. I know there was a period during the CBS era when they tried to go back to the earlier pre- and post CBS style. It it's supposed to be a newer one, I'd be suspect of it. I'm a cynic though.

copy and paste his emails so we can all have a good laugh at him  . Level neck indeed, you dont want em too flat, or the pitch to be bang on parallel.

This is one of the several emails he sent me, the funny thing is that he said "he doesnt have to waste his time with people like me, but he proceeded to send me FIVE more emails ranting and raving. I'm posting it here, I hope I dont get in trouble from the moderators, there's some bad language in it, but remember I'm not writing it.

"people like you obviously dont have a #$@*&!% clue what your looking at $@!&#*% it is worth more then i am selling it for douche bag..I dont sell my guitars to cheap assholes who usually buy $350 guitars..this guitar when i bought it $@!&#*% back in 2003 was $1300..and i have custom fralin pickups and the neck and frets plexed ...i guess i really give a $@!& what stupid ignorant idiots like you #$@*&!% think i dont even need to sell any of my guitars ...looser..go learn about guitars before you write someone about something you have no #$@*&!% clue about.......and stay the $@!& off my auctions i would'nt sell it to cry baby cheap asses who dont know a $1600 guitar when they see one."

By the way, he's supposed to be an online store, and all I asked in my email, was how did he get to the price of $1500 on a 5 year old guitar, that costs $1300 w/ the extra $100 for the color. That was pretty much the whole message, nothing rude, and here was one of the responses. So my next email was a" HAHA, you dont have to waste your time responding to people like me, thats why you sent me 5 emails in 3 days, have a good time leaving your guitar online for the next 3 months with no buyers.

The guy's a creep.
I'm glad that I can call my wife in and point to guitars like mine and see some have gone up in price. It allows me to negotiate WITH HER for, maybe, a NEW guitar. You know, just to fill in my "collection".
"Baby, look after a while, they become an INVESTMENT".
It's worked a couple of times.
But I would never sleaze out someone for a couple of bucks. I hope that guy lives lives in a flood zone....

I was talking about this with my brother, he came up with a good thought. He said, maybe these guys have wives that are trying to make them sell their guitars when they don't want to, so they put it on for a price that no one will buy it for, than at least they can tell their wives, "hey I tried". Although that may explain one, maybe 2, its definitely greed and lack of integrity on most of them. Like I told this person in my reply email" Just because you see Fenders MSRP is $1800 for something, it's not worth $1800 when every retail store sells it for $1200. Regardless to what some "blue book" says, a product is only worth what someone is willing to pay.

[quote="Single_Songwriter"]i recently bought a 60th anniversary Lefty American Standard "new-oldstock" from a Fender Dealer on Ebay and i paid $949.00 with Case and Candy but you really have to look very very hard to find a good bargain ,,,Was it Worth It ?? >> SEE PICS of MY PURCHASE >>> http://s457.photobucket.com/albums/qq29 ... ongwriter/ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MY TOYZ

That's the my whole point with this. There are some deals on Ebay, but now they're the exception, not the rule. And someone who is willing to do fair business on Ebay are suffering because there are so many creeps on there giving the whole site a bad name. Like I said in an earlier post, I look at Ebay and craigslist everyday. I've only bought off it a couple times, but I want to get an idea of what's out there, and if there's a good deal, I'll pull the trigger and buy. But everything is so over priced (its like trying to do grocery shopping in a convenience store), and I suspect allot of what is being described is not really what you're going to get, example is people saying mint, or excellent condition (having been in the auto business, everyone says mint or excellent, when in actuality, both those terms are only correct with 5% of used products, this is researched, not my figure).

Wow, that is eye-poppingly rude! But perfectly seriously, that sounds like someone with a boarderline mental illness, doesn't it? Major anger issues, at the very least.

Post a link to his sale page so's we can all go and ask him polite questions and get back outrageous responses. Then we can share them around here a bit, and finally send him a link to this page so's he can see we've all been laughing at him.

Your friends are on your side, Windwalker!

Cheers - C

I found a so-called dealer who's trying to sell a Marshall MG50DFX for the price of $450.00. I sent him a email explaining that they only go for $385.00 brand new, to which he emailed me back threatening me to turn me in for harassment. I said you do that and I'll turn you in for consumer fraud so go ahead and make my day. The next day, he was off E-bay.

Good! Any professional seller will either give you an explanation, or nothing at all. It's the ones doing something wrong that come back defensive like that. Like I said, I just asked a question about his product, and I got that email as a response. I looked at his sellers history, he tried to say this was his personal instrument, just like the couple hundred other things he sold (or supposedly sold, I know of dealers putting up sales, than pretending to be a buyer purchasing it, so they can pump up their history). SO im to believe this guy buys a guitar and amp everyweek, plays it, then sells it. He kept saying about me buying $350 guitars, I dont know where he came up with that number, but he said it in every email he sent.

I'd report him to ebay.
Windwalker you asked him a reasonable question, he replied with profanity. I'd get the ebay-law on him.

Anyway he's well out on his pricing.
frailins are $250
Getting a guitar Plek'd (not plexed as he put it) $150
Whats the cost of a secondhand aniversary $800 to be generous.
If anything it should lose value for not having the original pickups, no matter how good the frailins are.

Hehe! I've sent him a polite question asking about shipping to the UK. Soon as I hear back I'll make him an offer - of $200. We'll see how that stokes his fire.

I'm doing it strictly by the book - in case I win the guitar! Don't want to win for $200 and then have $1000 shipping demanded of me!

Stay tuned...

Quote from seller
I am having a tuff time even thinking of selling it but i have 4 great guitars i always play and this one just sits cause I dont want to or need to pull it out! I call this my Buddy Holly Just because I love buddy and he played a strat!

End Quote.

It seems he also has 7 other guitars for sale and has sold dozens in the last year. Just look at the sellers other items and history

Exactly, everyone wants stock. How is anyone to know the aftermarket parts were installed correctly. Im my experience, any aftermarket accessory devalues something.
