Ive been getting into a pi#@ing contest with a guy on ebay trying to sell his 03 American Deluxe for $1500. He thinks because he put some pickups on it, and had a bone nut and set up done, his 5 year old guitar suddenly is worth $300 more than a new one. On the plus side, I think the market is finally leveling off. It seems like over the last two weeks, the prices are really starting to level off. Though I doubt i'd ever buy there, just because even on a new guitar I feel the need to play it) it's getting better for the people out there who don't have the opportunity to go to a shop and try them for themselves. Who said an economic slow down can't be a good thing sometimes??

You definitely have to pay attention to the asking prices on eBay. There's a guy on there today trying to sell a used Squier Jagmaster for the "Buy It Now" price of $500. That's twice the price of a new one!

I emailed this cat and asked him how long has he been trying to get $300 more for his 5 year old guitar that I could buy new for $1200, maybe less. He wrote me back and told me I didnt know what I was talking about, he had a bone nut installed, and that I never played a neck as level as his.... I put a bone nut on for $40, and my guy does full set ups for $40, dresses the frets, sets everything perfect. I can't believe these people. My favorite is when they have a "buy it now" for like $1000, then they have the bid over it set at $995, and no bids..... :?:

He said he didnt have to waste his time messaging me, but he sent me like 6 messages LOL. If I can anger 1 person who's trying to rip people off, then my day is made.

copy and paste his emails so we can all have a good laugh at him  . Level neck indeed, you dont want em too flat, or the pitch to be bang on parallel.

The guy's a creep.
I'm glad that I can call my wife in and point to guitars like mine and see some have gone up in price. It allows me to negotiate WITH HER for, maybe, a NEW guitar. You know, just to fill in my "collection".
"Baby, look after a while, they become an INVESTMENT".
It's worked a couple of times.
But I would never sleaze out someone for a couple of bucks. I hope that guy lives lives in a flood zone....

Love,
Todd

Here's another one for you all to ponder. Go into Ebay and search 'David Gilmour Signature Stratocaster' and ask yourself how these 'traders' are able to offer these guitars, the whole package mind you, both NOS and Relic for $500-1000 below what most of us likely paid through conventional sources.

THERE's one for the company to answer...What's the gig here :?

HOW "BOUT IT BRAD??? :!: :?:

Once again we ask....."What's the story, Jerry????" If they can flip a guitar with that kind of price spread, what's their profit margin, and why couldn't WE benefit equally if they are not dealers. Perhaps they misrepresent themselves to the company, or have someone in a dealership buying for them.

Hey F, good to see you - have you been away? I was just beginning to wonder when the right moment was to launch one of those "has anyone seen FHopkins?" threads...

Cheers - C

Hey Ceri! The wife had me painting some interior walls for the holidays and as you know one wall leads to another. So I'm finished with that and then mother-in-law decides to stay with us a few days!! I just now sent the wife to take her back home and so I decided to check you guys and girls out to see what's been happening! Did I miss anything good? Looks like it has been business as usual! 8)
