im building my "black strat" and have questions on tone caps. is there a standard? does it depend on pot values? do i need linear or audio taper pots? does it matter? does the cap value vary depending on pickups used?
thanks!! :)

Welcome to the forum.

Personally I would go with CTS 250k Audio Taper pots and .047 caps.

ok, i have two 500k pots from a salvage pick guard. you think i should scrap them both and buy all new 250k pots? are all three supposed to be the same value?

also, i didnt see a "reply" option, will i have to always click on "quote" in order to reply?

You can mix pot values.

If you look at the very bottom you will see a reply button.

Your best bet is 250K audio for all three. Although you can certainly, "mix and match" so to speak, your best results tone wise, would be with the 250K audios (and a .047 to .05mF cap).
