Hi,
finally I bought online my new Mexican Strat, but i'm needing some help from you experts on a couple of things that I need to know about, since I overheard that the shop where I bought it was not too careful with its products...

1. The Wire

My strat came from the shop with a wire, perfectly cut, coming out from the neck pickup. since i'm skeptic about the transportation, i'd like to know what it is and, as i'm sure it doesn't belong there, how can i fix it.
Unfortunately my amp hasn't arrived yet, so I'd like to know also... will this "wire out" affect the sound?

2. The Serial Numbers

Maybe I'm being a little paranoid here, but the guitar came with two different serial numbers: one on the card hanging from the tuning machines, another printed on the guitar. Is this normal? what is, then, the correct serial?

Thanks to any expert who will help!
Jorge

Not sure about the card. They could have mixed that up at the retail store.

The wire...from what I can see, it looks like a piece of string wedged between the pickup cover & the pick-guard.

Jorge,

Welcome!

If I remember correctly, what you are calling the serial number on the card is actually the part number of the card itself.

The serial number on the headstock indicates the guitar is a 2008 model.

As to that errant wire, judging by your picture alone, it appears to be a small piece of shaved wire insulation which instead of being discarded during the factory assembly process, simply got wedged in between there instead. If it were me, I'm simply pick it out and throw it away.

Yes, can you pull it out? If so, you are done! If not, you'll have to take a peek under the pickguard to see if the other end is attached somewhere.

I still didn't try to pull it out because I wanted to check with the pros first...
As soon as I arrive home I'll try to do it, then I'll report here

The actual serial number from the card which corresponds to the guitar will be at the back of that card you posted which is white background and has all the initials of the QC signed like the "Prep","Assembly", "Tune/Test" and "Inspector"...at the bottom will be the Part number and the Serial Number...
take close inspection of it and tell us...Good luck

and welcome to the Forum!

I'm 90% sure that all the pencil signatures are there, but no serial number... anyway when I get home I'll check and picture it and get back to you.
thank you very much for the help!

I would wait until you get your amp and see if all works well and if it does I would then try to just pull the wire out. The right serial number is on the neck
