I know the deluxe players strat has a push button that allows the bridge pickup to be played with the neck pickup. My question is; are there any other stock strats that have that feature? I played that once at GC and really loved the feature. It gave it almost a telecaster sound, but I didn't really care for the Deluxe players strat. I know that the tech I use can put it on whatever strat I end up getting, and I'll probably just do that, but are there any others? I wonder if instead of putting on another button, if he can just get another S1 switch, and put it in like the tone knob position?

Its an easy mod to the guitar you do want. The master vol stays as master vol. The neck tone becomes neck vol, allowing you to blend it in with the bridge or bridge and mid.
The mid tone becomes a master tone.

I don't really get it. Because on an AM dlx. the mid tone is actually tone for mid/bridge, but anyway, does that mean if I were to do that mod, to lets say an American Standard, the neck pick up would always be active, and if I didnt want it to sound, I would just roll the neck volume all the way down? From what I understand, on the dlx player, the button would just "turn on" the bridge pickup, then you move the 5 way to the neck position.

It is controled by the 2nd volume. The tone becomes a master tone for all 3 pickups so you dont lose any versatility. It also allows for partial sounds e.g bridge (or bridge and mid) and neck on half. I put it on a charvel i've got and found it to be really versatile. The only improvement i could think of for the mod would be to wire the bridge and mid only to the other volume pot and have blending all ways round.
