Would one of those bridge covers fit my Classic Player 60 RI strat? I've been wondering about them for a long time...

According to the specs - http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0141100372 - click on the Specs link, the Classic Player ‘60s Stratocaster® has a:

Bridge - Vintage Style 2-Point Synchronized Tremolo with Stamped Steel Saddles

And according to this site - http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/covers_genfenashtrays.htm -

Quote:
099-2270-100
Genuine Fender chrome "ashtray" bridge cover for Stratocaster. Fits vintage USA bridges. Will not fit modern bridges.

So I would say it "should" fit - but I could be wrong. :?:

It's pretty cheap - you could get one and if it doesn't fit - not much damage, and it's a pretty nice looking guitar part :P

I'm not sure of the answer either. But when it says "will not fit modern bridges" I suspect that includes the one on the Classic Player '60s.

Fender's specs are less than helpful in this. "Vintage style 2-point trem" is kind of a contradiction in terms. Essentially, that's a modern 2-point bridge with bent steel saddles on it. The saddles are the vintage bit. I'm guessing the ashtray cover won't fit on that modern bridge plate - but I'd be most interested to find out for certain!

Cheers - C

I agree with ceri. That bridge has a narrower saddle spacing which will make the cover a bit too big. You might be able to squeeze the sides of the cover in to fit. Or you might try taping up the inside of the cover so it will fit more snugly. Those covers are just held on by friction.
