Hi Patrick: my first language is English and I find some of those things tricky...

FSR is Factory Special Run. For example, sometimes a shop goes to Fender (or another manufacturer) and asks them to do a batch of instruments with slightly unusual features so that they can sell them as a "Special Edition" exclusive to that shop. Sometimes those guitars cost a little more than regular ones because they are different and not many were made. But the price difference is usually not much, if at all.

Thanks for the answers. But even ask. What should you write to the fender? Just send photos and ask: "What's this?"

From the Fender Faq's page

I’ve seen various Fender dealers selling “FSR” guitars and amplifiers. I looked on the Fender website and I can’t find any information about these instruments. What is an “FSR”?

“FSR” stands for Fender Special Run. Many of these products are specially commissioned by individual Dealers or Dealer groups, and are built to the specifications that they request. The number of instruments produced can vary from run to run depending on the needs of the dealers. As these FSR guitars and amps are not offered as regular production “catalog” models, and are generally not available to every dealer, we are unable to provide specs or listings for them on our website. However, your local dealer should be able to provide detailed specs for any “FSR” they are offering.

Ha - OK!

Then it is one of those phrases that has got changed over time. I bought a Marshall amp done out in unusual livery from a shop who sold it as FSR, by which they must have meant Factory Special Run. Mind you, I think that was the shop's name for it, not Marshall's.

Like Guitar Aquisition Syndrome has sometimes become Gear Aquisition Syndrome.

But I'm sure you're right, the original credit should go to Fender...

Cheers - C

If you don't have the model number (which would be found on the papers you received with the guitar) then email them the number on the neck (Z00....)and send them the photos, chances are that you'll run into someone willing to help you. FSR means Factor Special Run, a special edition so to speak.
