So just had to post an awesome pawn shop find. I've been hunting for the perfect addition to my Am. Strat Deluxe. I've been looking for a Fender Blues Deluxe for a few months now and saving like a mad fool because currently I am ampless due to low funds and high rent. As of this morning I only had 400 saved and decided to go window shopping. So I went to a music store and they didn't have a blues deluxe in. Conveniently there was a pawn shop next door so I decided I'd take a look for kicks. After exploring the store for 10 min I turned a corner and there it was...top shelf hidden in the back the Blues Deluxe! One year old and in mint condition...said it had been in the store for a month (How it went undiscovered for a month I don't know...) So I proceeded to look at the price tag expecting pawn shop prices... 400 bucks! tryed it out and it was great and in perfect condition. what a steal... hoping to compliment my Am. Strat deluxe well...
Sorry for the boasting just crazy excited by the pawn shop find!
:D

Now days you can't walk into a pawn shop and not see a dozen guitars for sale

What an awesome find. I remember the days you could get an American Strat for lil to nothing compared to todays prices. They havnt realised the value of a good used vintage amp yet buy em while you can and in 25 yrs laugh  Enjoy that amp I have two of them and a Mesa Lonestar special. Great amp.

Good grief: you, Nikininja - who else? You people walk into these kinda shops and dig up fabulous bargains. I try to do the same and unearth - a heap of junk.

Some of us just seem destined to pay the Recommeded Retail Price. It ain't fair!

Well done: enjoy!

Cheers - C

Mine wasnt a junkshop find, it was a guitarshop that sells gibbos, tokai lots of pedals and amps. The bloke just hadnt priced it right. I've been a trawler of junkshops for a few years now (mainly for books). Sad to say the bottom has gone out of it regards guitars. I remember a time when you'd regularly find real gems particularly pedalwise. Now that times gone, the market has been bought up and its too easy for people with no experience to find correct prices. The best junk shops are in the slums though, dont even consider looking around chelsea or kensington. Derby and nottingham have some good shops if your around that end.

After reading your post, I'm going pawn shop exploring today!

bluesforjesus: How do you like that Mesa/Boogie Lonestar Special? I'm been thinking about getting one myself. I've heard that the clean is amazing and so is the tube reverb. Does it have the bright/dark reverb switch?

Pawn shops are hard to come by let alone a good deal in one. Enjoy your amp.

We have quite a few pawn shops in South Florida (go figure). I've hit a bunch of them and never found anything worth buying. Everytime I entered a shop I was filled with anticipation hoping to find a diamond in the rough or some undiscovered treasure only to be put off by the condition or price. I think the shops down here are visited by working musicians (or music shop owners) on a routine basis. I've never had lightning strike so I simply stopped going.
.
Congrats on your find. Wish I shared some of your luck.

No pawn shop where I am. I'll need to go visit the slums one of these days.

Sadly with the way times are for many the pawn shops are coming up with some nice gear. There are a lot guitars out there that people have bought and never follow through and now they see it as a way to make some quick money when needed. Its a buyers market out there if you got the cash.

I live in Manhattan. All the pawn shops have crap guitars and the stors on 48th street have really good prices anyway. So, I went to visit my Dad in Idaho a few years ago and got the brilliant idea to go into town and check out the pawn shops there - big city slicker that I am.
Guess what? All the guitars were crap guitars. Oh well.

Love,
Todd
