Okay, so I still havent gotten back my 2.5 month old American Strat that was stolen out of my apartment the day before Halloween, but to my surprise, the Lowell police dept (the city in Mass where I'm from) are still actively investigating. I have to tell you, this is surprising, this city of about 150,000 has A LOT of crime, I cant believe they're trying this hard to get it back. But here's the kicker; it looks like my landlord, who has always come across as a straight shooter, may know who did it, and be covering it up. It looks like my gut feeling that it was stolen by one of the maintanence guys went into my apartment right after I left that morning. The landlord was caught in a bunch of lies when the Detective questioned him yesterday for the 3rd time. He claims no one but him, and his main worker ever work in the building, even though that week he had a couple guys painting the hallway, one who was in the hallway on my way out for the day. And whoever took it messed up by leaving my door unlocked, and window open. They tried to make it look like someone came in through the window, even though it would be impossible due to the small space to come in, by leaving the door unlocked, it made it look like they came in through the window, and out the door. If they just kept the window open, it would look like someone reached in and pulled it out, because it was in its stand by the window. A window I might add that is NEVER unlocked due to a broken clasp that you're supposed to pull to tilt the window in to clean the outside. So in the end, I actually have some hope to get this thing back..... I've only been able to play by going to Guitar Center and plugging in one off the rack. I think thats why I spend so much time on this community site, I wouldnt have that much time if I had my axe to play. I have an acoustic, but its just not the same. Say a prayer to the god of guitar to come through with a christmas miracle. ANd hopefully the landlord doesnt try to throw me out. That would suck.

Looks to me like its either going to be the apartment or the guitar  .
So sad that private landlords are generaly greedy thieves. I caught one of my old landlords mooching round my flat when he didnt expect me back. one of my mates who was a tennant of his was shy 20quid on the months rent and the landlord emptied his flat. Said he'd give him his stuff back when he was paid his £20.

He made rackman look like the pope.

Man... what a story... one of the reasons I always lock my bedroom door is because I know some tech maintenance people can come any time any day specially in the mornings when no one is home to do some work ... I don't want them to see my beauties because they could fall in love with them and create a master plan to steal them :) I hope you get it back man but if you don't ... you will have one eventually :)

Funny thing about renters insurance, a couple of days prior to this, I wrote down the number to look into, this happened 8 years ago, same thing, decided to look into it, couple days later, got ripped off. DOn't know what that means, either get it first, or dont think about it.
Regarding maintenance coming in; this happens here too. So when I lock up, i always give the lock a slight turn to the left, so the lock is at 11:00. When I got home that night, it was more at 1:00, so I saw in my minds eye exactly what happened even before I got in. I think if I got kicked out on some made up reason, I'd take him to court, seeing as though I'm the most reliable tenant there. That being said, I'd rather get my guitar back, it'd be worth couch surfing for a month to me. I'm not sure I'll get it back, but I'm hoping the constant pressure from the cops might cause it to "show up." I remember telling the landlord, that I didn't even care if the their got caught, I just wanted it back, and if it did, i'd have no problem telling the police that it just showed up. I dont think he took it, but I'm pretty sure he know who did. He never came across as someone who would allow that to happen, so it's really surprising me. Thing is, there's a camera that would have caught whoever broke in if they went through the window. When I spoke to him the night I found out, which was they day after he said he found my window open, I asked him about it, and he said that the camera was on a 2 day loop, which means the next day would be the last day I'd be able to see what happened. He told me he would meet me there the next day ( i was staying at my parents that weekend because they were away, and the dog and cat needed to be fed, and their driveway was going to get repaved, so I had to wait for the pavers) he never showed the next day. I thought he just forgot or something, everyone else said he did it on purpose. I was kind of a street kid in my teen year, sold drugs, fights, that kind of stuff. So I considered myself pretty street smart. But now it looks like I was wrong. Like i said, this is a pretty tough town, shooting, murders, gangs, etc. So Im surprised the Detective is taking this much care in the case, but it gives me a little hope. To all out there; BE VIGILANT, dont wait for this to happen to you. This is the worst feeling ever. Take care of your gear.

seeing as we all live in apartments for the most part. anybody ever have neighbors complain? Mine have all given up..I have a texas red hot rod deluxe with the ext cab underneath it. the guy below me used to bang on ceiling but now he doesn't...and the girls who live next to me turn their head the other way every time they see me. I hate being a bad neighbor but thats just the way it is. I'm going to lock my door more often.

That thought crossed my mind; maybe a neighbor got fed up, grabbed it, and got rid of it. I even checked the dumpster across the street LOL. But there are alot of dirtbags around there, I think hearing me play was least on their lists of worries
