Has anybody tried the new Ernie Ball coated strings? or the Elixir nanowebs for electric guitars? I use the latter on all my acoustic guitars and love them, but I haven't heard good things about electric coated strings ?

All experiences welcome

Junk. Coated strings are good for cheap plywood top guitars to make them sound better.

Other than that, I don't like the tone on acoustics, and can't stand them on electrics.

I don't know man, I used elixr's for a year or two straight. I noticed they were not as bright sounding initially, but they kept their tone longer. I liked them, but switched back to Ernie Ball slinkies and super slinkies for cost or availability reasons...I forget.

I think that if you tend to keep the same strings on your guitar for a long time and you're not that good at wiping the strings down after each play, then these are the ticket for you, as they will sound good longer under these conditions.

If you have a sensitive ear and are meticulas (SP?) about maintaining your guitar, then you may more satisfied with nickel wound strings...you decide, you know what you do

I tried the Elixir electrics and I didn't like them just sounded too dull. I'm like Atolleter I'll stick with slinkys.

Hi guys

i posted about this on another thread...I have tried the Titanium Coated Super Slinky's on my Vintage Strats and had great luck with them. The strings seem more staple and tune right up to pitch and stay there. Also they feel like regular strings since they do not cover the entire string with that nano-dead tone sucking layer over the whole string. They feel natural and last longer since the protection is on the wrap wire only...give em a try I think they only cost me a few bucks more than the normal slinkys....
