They also make an LTD model but I couldnt find any pics, the ESP version is as pricey as the american fender relics.

That's the George Lynch model, well, one of them at any rate. They make a cheapo version (the LTD pictured) and a more expensive version (that looks a lot better!).

Here's one way to relic a bunch of guitars at the same time (ie, let the bridge on one chew into the back of another):

I know that there are a lot of people in the forum that like the relic look on their guitars. I think that over time a guitarist will relic his or her guitar over time. I do not see the sense in buying a new guitar that is beat up or buying a new guitar, taking it apart, and throwing it around. But in the end, each person needs to be happy with their guitars.

Not into the whole relic thing at all. Heartily agree that dings and stuff should come from playing, not "decorating"

Or you could just get a 5-neck guitar!

Of course, then, you'd be relicing your back.

Love,
Todd

Is this worn finish an applique that is applied over the wood to give it that look?

I think Rick has a 5-neck guitar. I like that picture because the strat is a black left-handed body with an old right-hand maple neck.

Orvilleowner, how do you find the weight of your doubleneck? I've got the beginings of a idea for a supportframe. Is there much need for them?

I believe it weighs about 13 pounds; not too bad really. The body is supposedly 3-piece alder, at least that's what Warmoth said. It's not too much for me, old ash Strats and Les Pauls never bothered me, but that could be too heavy for somebody else.

I ordered my team built custom shop strat last week. I ordered my strat brand new without any undercoat, wls, etc. The guitar is finished nitro from the wood out. It will age very nicely but in no way was I going to spend any additional money on relicing the guitar. While I admire the artistry of a reliced guitar, I would never buy one. When my strat arrives 9 months from now, the natural aging will begin at that point. I'll take care of my investment but hope that it will show nicely aged characteristics over the years.

Here's the more expensive MIJ ESP signature George Lynch model "relic" (GL-56):

Yes, he does. That was what I was referring to. It's HUGE. He mostly played Hamer guitars, I believe.
My favorite guitar from him is the double neck that looks like him. One of the headstocks is reversed so the pair look like his feet. The fingerboards are his legs, etc.

Love,
Todd

Yes, that doubleneck that looks like him is a "hoot." He's always been a great showman who could rock!

They were always a good solid band. They played great and were fun to watch.

Love,
Todd
