Does anyone know if the "C" profile of the vintage 62 Strat & the "thick C" profile of the Hot Rod 62 are really the same shape? I have no place to
test drive them locally before I buy one on the net.

Hi!

I was able to compare both necks and the one of the vintage hot rod 62 is thicker, a real C shape! I bought the hot rod 62 and I love it.
The neck also does not have the high gloss finish on the back, so it won´t stick to your hands like the other nitro finished necks, when you sweat.

Keep on rockin´!

CB108,

Thanks, I really want the hot rod 62 & now there is no option.
I love my '52 reissue Tele 'U' neck & need the neck to fill my hand.
What color did you get? I'm leaning to the white. If it was a two color sunburst I'd jump, but I don't know about the three color (forget the green)

thanks again for the help

That´s great, but be careful!
Look at the finish, esp. under the backplate. I have the second vhr 62 strat in ow exchanged now, because of bad finish issues!
I will write a thread about this issue, Fender should know this.
It could be that the ones, they are selling in USA are alright, but here in Germany are also some picky people , esp. with this pricetag.

That is too bad.

When Tom Anderson paints the Olympic White,
he adds "vintage flecks" to the paint. He says that
you can't paint the white without some flecking so
he just avoids the problem by deliberately adding them.

Is that the sort of thing you are seeing or is it just a cheesey
job?

I'll tell you, the Anderson Classic in Olympic White with
a tortoise shell pickguard is to die for.......................

Well, I bought the Hot Rod '62 in Olympic White & it is flawless.
The deep 'C' neck fits my hand very well (as well as my vintage '52 Tele). I'm getting used to the med. jumbo frets. They feel big next to my vintage frets but they play very easy. It is easier to play cleaner notes with the larger frets. I like 'um.

The pickups are great. The reversed mid. mixes so well with the other
two. The axe has all the vintage single coil sounds & a very soulfull
2 & 4 position.

The tone of the rosewood fretboard is softer & a little darker than my
maples & fits well with Fender's choice of pickups. The '62's distinctive voice goes great next to my '52 Tele or Blackie.

Output of the pickups is low. The pickups are positioned very low & I
think this is the reason. I have a tendency to set my pickups too high
and this doesn't let this thin strings ring well & I guess Fender went the other way in search of better tone (and it is great). I just have to turn it
up a little more.

Thanks to Fender for another great guitar & thanks guys for your help here.
