Does anyone know of any great Strat sounds coming from obscure artists? I'm looking for something with a bluesy rock feel that really showcases the Strat (think Gilmour, Trower, Hendrix).

Yellow Ledbetter was the first thing that came to my mind so if you know anything along those lines pass it along!

I'd say little wing, which yellow ledbedder is pretty much at take off of. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the guitar in "Graceland" from Paul Simon is strat...or tele, whatever it is, it has that sound.

Also.. Mrs Potter's Lullaby from Counting Crows maybe. ALthough when I hear it, the image that comes to my head is a Telecaster B-bender, although it could just be slide. And although it's from a metal band, "One" from Metallica, the first and second clean lead guitar parts I know is a strat, one of the VERY small parts he does play with a proper strat. That is a very stratocaster sound.

All I have to say is Jimi Hendrix "Machine Gun" solo with the Band of Gypsys: Live at the Fillmore East.

Kirk used a Fernandez simil-Strat with EMGs..in particular a EMG80...I wouldn't consider it a very stratocaster sound...

garage days, some of ride the lightning and some of master of puppets were recorded with a strat type guitar with 3 singlecoils. Its what produced the attack in the rhythm track on garage days.

Yes i know james records all the rhythm and kirk just goes in to do leads but garage days was recorded as a live in the studio/ demo.

Gotta go with Steve Miller band "Fly like an Eagle' or "Book of Dreams" both smooth and sweet
Try Dire Straits first album also. Mark Knopfler has some beautiful tone on that album.
Bonnie Raitt is also a smooth Strat player, with slide too.

Yes, extremely good call on Knopfler. Also, I know John Mayer does not get a lot of love in this forum, but he gets some nice tone, too.

All great examples. I went and listened to "Graceland" of the album with the same name. That has to be a strat, it has that definite clean strat sound w/reverb.
