I don't use the trem much (at all?) and just added a couple of springs. Even with only three I didn't have any in-tune problems, but lots of folks said I would eventually, so.....Is it my imagination or did I actually lose some sustain? Anybody else? Thanks

Ive a blocked off trem and a floating one. They both sustain about the same ammount (sustain has more to do with pickup height) and the floating trem stays intune equaly as well as the blocked trem. Its all in the setup and takes ages to get right. You have to balance the tension of the strings and the tension of the springs. When its right having the trem being able to pull back a bit stops them binding in the nut and helps them stretch in easier too.

I blocked off the bridge on my MiM and it GAINED sustain. Maybe because it put more tension on the neck?
