Led me me to further abuse my MIM, think I've removed all the finish I care to, did it all by hand with 220 grit silicon carbide sand paper ( all I had onhand, my hands are pretty reliced now too) that poly is tough stuff, doing it by hand does help prevent from taking things to far, as its a lot of work, still need to touch up my ghetto finish but figured I'd go on and post some frersh post mortem shots, I'd also like some advice/reccomendations for further work before I finish it up more or less, lemme know what you think both good and bad

I wouldnt do too much more to it mate. maybe a few dings on the bottom near the jacksocket and a couple of small ones near the upper wear marks. I'd keep em to a minimum though, its very easy to over do it.

If you use an orbital buffer and some car polish (not wax) it will smooth out your sand paper marks and make it look a little older and more natural as if the finish has been taken off by hands and not abrasives.

Other than that, I'd say look for a parchment pickguard and you'll have a hell of a cool looking guitar.

Did a little touch up and "aged the plastic, I learned the hard way not to soak a celluloid guard, not only did it not really do anything, but they shrink! Had to frezze the pup covers to cram them in , and they were all sqished, after a few hours they settled in though. Ended up using some light walnut stain on the guard, really happy with how it turned out, scuff, stain, wipe, rinse, and repeat 3 or 4 times.

I swear it sounds better now, though it could be in my head, but through my JSX mini with an ECC81, its just seems more "alive" and I was happy with it before.

It started out olympic white . I just scuffed up the poly and applied orange hair dye like a stain.
