Yes to Neil Young! I think I have all of his pre-90s stuff. A good songwriter! 8)

Hey Fellow Stratheads-

My favorite Album of all time has to be- SRV "Texas Flood" - It floored me-Blew me away. It was the sound I was looking for. It was Raw with an attack like I hadn't heard before. Before that my favorite Albums were:
"The Doors"
"Band of Gypsies"
Albert King's "Live Wire/Blues Power"
"Dark Side of the Moon"

The Freeze

Have you ever heard Neil Young playing with Led Zep at their induction into the R&R Hall Of Fame?

That performance resonated with me and I've been a fan of Neil's since.

Love,
Todd

The Who "Who's Next", "Quadrophenia"
The Beatles "Sgt. Pepper"
Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon"

Why did a good old southern boy pick a bunch of British bands? he asks himself.

At this point I would have to day that, "Dark Side Of The Moon" is the consensus best LP amoung us guitar players.

Love,
Todd

That's a difficult question, and one I think is subjective relative to the mood at the time I try to answer, and also the reason for the answer. I can give top 5, and reason,

1)G n R- Appetite for destruction- It was a rock and roll breath of fresh air that was gritty, and heavy, while still being pretty simple. No flashy guitar. Slash's guitar on that album was like watching 2 hot 20 year old co-eds make out with each other. WHile most 80's pseudo metal was like watching a fat middle age guy masturbate.(No offense to any fat middle age guys, but you get the picture, ehh, or not)

2)Pink Floyd- Dark side of the moon- It was etherial and showed how alot of studio production, when done tasteful, could make an album as artful as a painting

3)Jeff Beck-Truth. Because, come on.... If you play electric blues, that's it in my opinion. Plus the way it was recorded, most of the guitar came out of only one speaker while the other one had the drums, vocals, bass. So you could move all the sound to that speaker and play over it. Try it!

4 Counting Crows-August and everything after. Because it came out my Senior year in high school, and I can still listen to it all the way through, and love it. I actually still have the same CD.

5) I'll leave this blank, because like I said, its all realative, so it would change from day to day. :?

Hard to say which one is the best. I think it is a tie for me.

I like the "...And Justice For All" Metallica and "Number of the Beast" Iron Maiden albums. I could listen to either of them any time, any where.

Leon Russell and Marc Beno - Asylum Choir II (a misleading title since Asylum Choir 1 was never released)
My parenets had it on vinyl and I wore it out for them, I've had it on tape (talk about hard to find), CD (with Bonus traks), and it was the first Album I put on my Zune.

Interesting. I love DSOTM but I never considered it a "guitar" album.

I don't think I could narrow my choices to less than 20, but some of my favs are, in no particular order:

Who's Next - The Who
Led Zeppelin I & II
Revolver, Sgt Pepper, the White Album, Abbey Rd. - The Beatles (for the record, I was 13 when the White Album came out)
Electric Ladyland - Hendrix
Live at Fillmore East - Allman Bros.
Disraeli Gears - Cream

There are just too many!!!

Well, you made me have to run go dust off Rafferty's "City to City" LP and give it a spin - it's been a while. You know, that is a great album from start to finish. Lot of great work on there....
Thanks for jogging the ole' brain cells, Todd.

Thanks. It's a fun song on a cool album. The guitar and sax solos just work. Not difficult, but in the pocket. And where is Gerry Rafferty now? I haven't heard of him in a while?

Love,
Todd
