I saw two brand new MIM Standards today in a local store. The logo has gone from silver (similar to the old AmStd logos from the 80s) to a black-filled, gold-trimmed transition "Fender" logo and a larger "Stratocaster" logo (like older Squier Series MIMs). The country of origin and s/n have been moved to the back of the headstock.

They look nice.

By the way, the frets were finished very well on these two guitars - better than I've seen in the past.

Don't get me started!

They did it so that you MIM guys wouldn't have to take so much flak from us MIA guys when we jam together

:) Not so GT!

My MIA Strat only cost me $550
My MIA Tele was $400

Admittedly not real cheap but not real expensive either

I think my next purchase is gonna me the MIM Jim Root Tele so I got no problem with the MIM's.

Yeah, my 94 MIM new was like $380. My 98 MIA new was like $600. Not much difference in price, but I can name a ton of difference in them, all of which make a difference to me. (Though I still love the MIM)

Cool the jets, Johnny!!! Maybe you missed the "j/k" in my post.

j/k = Just Kidding

I am so tired with the MIM vs MIA thing. Who really cares? I mean really...

They're both great guitars I just like that 22nd fret on the MIAs. The new logo is nice on the MIMs. The MIM reissues play real well but they're almost as expensive as the MIAs.

I think Fender made this change so as to create buzz thus the extra buzz adds up to more sales. Also since there is something different on the new Strat it warrents the increase in cost to the consumer (gone up 50.00) just being smart business  got to have that new Strat.

For buzz, but mostly just to change the new models up. You can't keep the exact same log on forever. Guitar change their models every year, just like cars. A new feature here and there, but something a little different every year. Try something new, if it works well keep it. If not, can it. No different than the new car models every year.

Hey don't "dis" the $50 decal! Those things cost alot of money to make maybe it's $25 for each side of the headstock. :)

Fender just has to make changes every now and then to inspire us all to buy another guitar.

US: "Hey guys LOOK it's different (and shiny) we must have it!
THEM: "YAY"
