Can I put my American Series Strat (2008) back in it's case evryday with the tremolo are in. One guy said to remove it when storing. But it's not storing. It goes in it's case every night until the next day. Also the Strat info that came with it, said to thread it in all the way.
Anyone have any thoughts on this.

By storing it, he meant putting the guitar back in its case, as opposed to leave it on a guitar stand. I know I would remove the trem arm. So that way, your are not inducing any unnecessary forces to your guitar by having the top section of your case pushing down on the arm. Have you ever heard of "metal fatigue"? By not screwing your trem all the down,
the forces the you will apply to it will be taken by the top threads, wich in turn, with time, will fatigue and damage will occur. You will stripped your threads and you won't be able to screw your arm back. And trying to screw into damaged threads will damage the threads on the trem arm as well. End result might be damage done to your bridge and your trem arm.

BTW, I'm no scientist, just a machinist. I see this kind of stuff way too often to my liking... because I'm the one who's got to fix it! lol

Cheers!

+1

Take the arm off before closing the case on it.
If you have a spring in the trem hole, put a piece of tape over the hole (or find a ltttle bolt with the same thread pattern/size to screw in) to keep the spring from falling out.

OR get one of those wall hangers and you will never have to do that every day :P

Why is there a spring in the tremolo hole?

Even without the spring the tremolo arm seems to function.

Just get a guitar stand or the wall hanger.

Same, case won't close without pushing on the arm.
Rather not risk snapping the arm off. Taking it in to have the stub drilled out is a pain and costs a bit.

Most times mine is just sitting out in its Hercules stand.
Axe, and amp get packed away if visitors especially with kids are coming over :)

Wall hangers are great plus you have a beautiful work of art to gaze at! The only downside to not keeping it in its case, is that it gets dusty. I'm sure the purists will say it must be kept in its sealed case, but I love to look at "em.

My 2 cents

Heh, doesn't get dusty if you keep playing it!
Also tend to give it a wipe off after a session.

Same here. If you spend all that money on 'em, why not not enjoy 'em when you're not playing?
