I am thinking to get my husband the JB custom shop strat he has been lusting for as his Christmas gift. I can't afford a new one but I found a gentleman selling his. Its about a year or less old and has a very few little nicks like you would expect but otherwise looks almost new. I cant afford $2500 for a new one but he is offering it to me for 1200.

i'm going to have a expert look at it to make sure its good. I know you cant judge it without seeing it in hands, but if nothing is wrong with it, do you think $1200 sounds like close to a fair price?

Dont worry, if I get gypped I won't blame you guys.

Yzzy :)

Good luck with your buy ...Just make sure its a Jeff Beck custom shop stratocaster.... not an artist series. You can easily find an artist series Jeff beck - which also American made - for that price or maybe a little less. Custom shop guitars are usually more expensive.

Take care and good luck
Cheers

Thanks you guys

I picked it up today and its a bueaty, sweety is going to love it. The man who sold it to me was very nice and let me take it to an expert and check it out first, and all was good. He had a brand new custom shop strat and I think he was trying to raise money to pay for it :D

And thank you for the welcome to the board. I been here a few months and like it. Im trying to learn the bass and I read a lot here. :)

Ha! I've done my best to persuade my wife to take up the bass - or the piano, or sax, or anything. But no dice.

Well done, ysobel - and well done Mr ysobel, too!

Cheers - C

Yeah but its a antique Louis the 16th clock that will tell her the time every day. With british weather she'd use a harley for 2 months of the year at most, and have nowhere to put her shopping unless i fit a sidecar:D .

In truth, she told me she'd outgrown the idea.
