Do the largest majority of STRATS have the 9 1/2" fretboard radius?
I am used to playing Gibson Les Paul, but I truly love the tone of my strat. It takes a little while to get used to when I want to play lead. I was thinking about changing the neck out but wondered what everyone else is doing when they switch back and forth between brands.

Thanks,
Bull Bucci

mm I know that most of strats have a 9.5 radius but there are also 7.25 and 7.5 strats specially the vintage ones... BUT also there is the Eric Johnson strat with a nice 12 inch radius ... I dont know if they have higher radiuses but I guess strats are known mostly for their 9.5 radiuses :)

Ditto to what Synkronized says. Generally 9.5 on modern guitars, 7.25 on '50s and '60s reissues. The EJ has a 12 inch radius - off the top of my head I can't think of another current production Strat with 12", but there may be some.

I have little difficulty switching back and forth between Strats and Les Pauls (and my Tele, for that matter). Neither the different scale length nor the fretboard radius nor the neck shape bother me. What does always trip me up for a second is the heel placement on the Les Paul. And I have been known to reach for my whammy on the LP only to grab empty air!

Cheers - C

I believe you are correct.

I know the Custom Shop Pro has a 12 inch radius. I don't know if other Custom Shop models have it.

I actually posted a question about 9.5 vs 12 in radius earlier today, they make a deluxe players strat that also has a 12 in radius neck, its a MIM w/ american vintage noisless pups and a button that allows you to play the neck and bridge pickup together like a tele. Its a cool strat design, but I suggest if you're interested in one look around. I tried one at guitar center cause I wanted to try a 12in neck, and this particular players strat was absolutely horrible. I think it must have been built on a friday before a long weekend by a discrunteled employee. I'm sure ther are good ones that with a good setup would be great. But this one left a bad taste in my mouth.

You are right! And I see that the Classic Players '60s also has a 12 inch radius, according the spec sheet elsewhere on www.fender.com
