Take it back! You shouldn't have to deal with all these problems on a brand new guitar. Nobody checks anything anymore. Way back, the dealer I had used to not only go over the guitar, but set it up for you the way you like it at no charge. Make them make it right. Fender QC should have caught this and never let it out the door.

Aslong as the other tech is a authorized dealer you will be ok. Infact it will help when it comes to returning the guitar. If a outside dealer says its no good then the seller hasnt a leg to stand on. Soundcontrol notoriously used cheap labour both on the shop floor and in the repairs departments at the birmingham shop atleast. They could of well stayed on when reverb became the name of choice. Reverb was the name of soundcontrols magazine.
weve heard various tales of ineptitude at various shops. including the 16year old kid employee taking a screwdriver to a highend acoustic. If you find a good tech look after him they are rare. In 21 years ive only found 4 people i'll trust with my guitars and 2 of them are dead.

Well, he's on the fender.co.uk site under northeast & hartlepool so i guess it should be ok. I'll as him tomorrow if it would be OK, i'm sure he would say if it would cause a prob with the warrenty.

what will cause a warranty problem? Its not like you've sawn half the headstock off or planned the neck socket down. The warranty states you can return it with the receipt to ANY authorized fender dealer. Fender accept that truss, intonation and action adjustments must be made by the layman, its a intrinsic part of leo's design. The fact is that generally FMIC care more about the customer then their stockists do. The stockist gets such a low percentage of the sale price if any that they just want shot of the guitars. until they get the magic one or two that the manufacturer gives em to sell at 100% profit for the shop. The manufacturer on the other hand want repeat custom, hence the variation of models.
The dealer will be glad to return a duff guitar sold by another dealer that has displayed a lack of customer care or negligence. Gibson and Fender both demand the earth from their stockists. If the next guy you take it to can make the previous guy look bad and show that his level of care is better then the original seller, it will make him look better from fenders point of view.

capitalism eh?

Jamboski,
All the best with it mate. Honestly for what you pay for a bit of wood and some wire, you deserve better. That guitar should of been giggable straight out the box. Fender know long distance transport fecks with their produce and expect a good deal from their overseas representatives. You may as well monopolize on that fact.

If you tune the guitar at the first fret, are the other frets still in tune?

I'm wondering if perhaps only the nut isn't quite in the correct place.

See mate its a far better result than you were expecting. FMIC do care about their customers despite popular belief.

All the best with the replacements, did you take it to the other dealer, if so what did he say about it?

It sounds like the shop is taking good care of you. Glad to hear it.
